10 Things to Know About the iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 Update

Published

on

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 update is an important update and today we want to take a look at everything iPhone 6 owners need to know about the iOS 9.3.5 update as we make the push into the month of September.

In January, Apple confirmed an iOS 9.3 update for the iPhone 6. The iOS 9.3 update brought new features and enhancements to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It also brought problems, problems that have required Apple to roll out numerous bug fix updates.

A few weeks ago, after a lengthy stint in beta, Apple rolled out a bug fix update dubbed iOS 9.3.3. iOS 9.3.3 was out for a mere two weeks before the company rolled out another version called iOS 9.3.4.

iOS 9.3.4 is no longer king. In August, ahead of the iOS 10 release, Apple rolled out yet another iOS 9 update called iOS 9.3.5. And it’s an big one.

iPhone-6s-Plus-iOS-9.3

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 update is a tiny upgrade for those moving up from the iOS 9.3.4 update. That said its contents are extremely important. The iOS 9.3.5 update delivers some key security patches for some serious exploits.

iOS 9.3.5 will be a much larger update if you’re coming from an older version of iOS 9 or Apple’s aging iOS 8 operating system because it brings features and fixes from older versions.

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 update is small but there are some important things prospective and current iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 users need to know about the latest version of iOS 9.

This roundup offers iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 update impressions, a look at some of the iOS 9.3.5 problems plaguing iPhone 6 users, fixes for those problems, what to expect from the next iPhone 6 update, and a whole lot more.

iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 Update: Impressions & Performance

iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 Update: Impressions & Performance

We've been using the iPhone 6 iOS 9.3.5 update for two weeks now and here are our first impressions of its performance.

Again, if you're coming from iOS 9.3.4, iOS 9.3.5 is a small update and shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to download and install. It took us about five minutes from start to finish.

If you're coming from something older like iOS 9.3.2, it'll take you a little bit longer to install so make sure you block out 15 minutes to get it done.

Battery life is holding up with the new update on board. We haven't run into any weird drain though we have seen complaints about iOS 9.3.5 battery life so you'll want to be careful if you decide to make the move.

We haven't noticed any problem with connectivity. We've tested the iPhone 6's iOS 9.3.5 update with several routers, ISPs and Bluetooth devices and everything appears to be stable.

The iPhone 6 is still extremely fast with the iOS 9.3.5 update on board. We haven't noticed any abnormal lag or stuttering. The keyboard and Control Center, two problem areas in the past, aren't laggy.

For the most part, we're having an excellent experience on iOS 9.3.5 and recommend it for most iPhone 6 users due to the nature of the security fixes on board.

If you're still feeling a bit leery, we recommend seeking out a second or third opinion, especially if you're coming from an older version of iOS.

I have similar,? if not worse, issues with the update. Apple didn’t even acknowledge the multiple problems is causing to its loyal customers. It will take sometime to restore its credibility. Time to short Apple.

I can tell you for certain that since I updated 2 nights ago, my Bluetooth randomly disconnects, the wifi signal is also clumsy.

Another thing I can say is that since the update friends and family comment about how I cut in and out and sound bad. I’ve been told that the HD calling and regular calling is unstable sounding. I seem to always hear them though.

But seriously, the Bluetooth thing is a buggy. If need be, am I able to roll this back to 9.2?

Apple STILL hasn’t fixed GameCenter!! This is rediculous! At least make a way that we can remotely log out GameCenter so we don’t have to deal with it.. For 3 updates now they’ve been aware of this issue but haven’t fixed it.. What is so hard about that?

This .1 update “destroyed” my 9.3… Right after installing my phone got in a loop of shutting down and turning on. Had to format and reinstall. I’m still in restoring and receiving a lot of “____” failed to install.
    Sad!

I’ve always loved Apple products but, sadly, at this point, since first 9.0 update, I don’t trust Apple’s updates. I have so many problems and I haven’t updated to 9.3.
I’m concerned with Apples apparent lack of concern for releasing updates and letting customers be Guinea pigs for problems. Are they cutting costs by not using trained technicians? Why are they releasing updates to the public without thoroughly testing them?
    This is very concerning!

  18. Matt

    04/04/2016 at 1:35 am

Reading the comments, it’s obvious I should wait. Btw, without the comment section, I think this website wouldn’t even get traffic. It’s the f’ing same info being regurgitated for every update. Copy-paste, copy-paste, copy-paste. Whoever runs this site is as uninspired as people accuse Apple of being!

    • SGSc

      09/03/2016 at 10:12 am

Yep! Updated 9.3.4 a couple of weeks ago. Got in my car to drive to work the next morning and EVERY SONG WAS GONE off my iPhone 6s!!

Fired it up to see “Going off the Grid?” “Show all music”

      WTF APPLE???

Just updated to 9.3.5 because, well the damage is already done so it couldn’t get WORSE could it?

I’ve also had my wife telling me that she’s been having issues hearing me since the update on her LAND LINE.

While I’ve been an Apple “Fan Boy” since my Apple+ in 1982 they have really stunned me with very sloppy updates in the past 2 years, poor design decisions (still not happy with having a fisher price icon iPhone), dumbing DOWN their productivity applications (gave up on pages and numbers last year due to removed functionality that I WAS using) and their lack of professional support in the hardware arena (3 years worth of the MAcPro Trash can and NO GRAPHIC CARD UPDATES?!?! WTF?!?!)

      I’m on the verge!

I though that my IPAD was broken and I was going to have it look at. We are traveling and I assumed my problems were due to poor WIFI, my husband and million other things. I did not expect that the previous update was the culprit. Now the 9.3.1. Seems to fix the problems but I am very upset with all the problems the previous one caused me. How dare you to upset old ladies who do not understand the technology by feeding them update which mess up their IPAD

Today when i got home i had about 20% left of my battery. That’s bad as hell. And yesterday directly after i updated i had a facetime call and got warned after about ten mins into the call that i just had 20% left. I don’t know from where it went down to 20% yesterday sorry. But today is a dissaster. I normaly have about 50% left when i come home.

My iMessages are already shown as read before even I receive in my iPhone, meaning someone has cloned my phones ??? I am confused as ever.
Camera stay on forever despite me not taking pictures or using it. New pictures being added by iPhone itself, I am getting some weired photos from unknown people in photo library, pictures are grusome as hell from blood bath bodies and oh gosh what am I seeing on this phone from hell. Other hellos can be heard in calls seems like someone is listening to me and my girl’s secret conversations at bedtime while I call her from uni, very very strange. This weekend my phone locked itself away with all my passwords in safari, my photos, I mean everything. The phone changed its passcode somehow.

  25. GB

    04/04/2016 at 10:46 am

iOS 9.3 bricked my iPhone 6 64GB. All apps freezing/crashing. That includes native Apple apps like mail.
Factory restore and setup as new device – following Apple supports advice. Inconvenient and poor advice that did not work.
Advised by Apple support it’s likely hardware fault. Genius appointment made.
Met a genius who ran diagnostics. Not fault found. Lots of app crashes in the logs though.
DUF update in the store. Along with 9.3.1update.
    Same problems persist.

    Really Apple WTF!
What a disaster. What a waste of my time because your in denial.

Logs today showing kernel crashes, memory leaks, type most matches…. And this is for APPLE APPS on clean IOS on updated firmware. Endless freezes and crashes.

Now what I’d like to know is the legal position of an apple customer with a £700 handset that’s just out of warranty when APPLE “BRICKS” thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) of phones. I guess we the customers are screwed due to some clause in 30 pages of small print.

Apple your products may look nice but this is an epic balls up. You need woz back!

I don’t know about 9.3.1 as I haven’t downloaded it, but I downloaded the one in March, and it brought in more problems. It erased most of my notes, pages would hang, apps crashing all the time, especially Google and Safari. So what’s up. They need an update to fix the problems, not make them worse. I’ve had iPhones for years and this is the first time I’ve had a problem.

  28. Chris Curry

    04/04/2016 at 12:41 pm

I have an early iPad2. When I updated to 9.3.1, I lost service outside of my home WiFi. After a few days of this inconvenience and exasperation, I tried the hard re-boot (both buttons at same time) and restarted. All was well again.

I have a nearly brand new iPhone 6s Plus and this update tanked my phone. None of my apps will update. It just hangs there, not even spinning. My battery life, which used to be awesome, is reduced to about 4 hours to 5 hours. I hate having to recharge my phone so much. And that’s with little use. There are days that I use my phone constantly.

Not happy with this release at all.

  38. Jr Smooth

    04/05/2016 at 8:10 pm

Don’t know what you guys are experiencing but with my IPhone 6 Plus and with the newest update, it is working great. Haven’t experienced any lag issues, connectivity issues, volume issues, and etc. I didn’t automatically download the update because I knew it would be kind of buggy right when they release it, so by me waiting they can fix any issues that arises. That goes with anything else besides Apple when downloading updates for anything. My advice is to just wait a few weeks and wait until the company fixes any bugs in the product or update.

DONT DO IT! 9.3.1 is terrible on my iPhone 5S. Phone hangs up after one incoming ring, phone restarts when a call comes in or when I try to unlock from locked screen to check my email, phone shuts down randomly during calls, I have to keep going through reset to get it to turn on or wait around 20 minutes. Tried letting it go flat and recharging to 100%, tried restore from back up. HOW CAN I GO BACK TO the previous IOS???? My business is suffering as it is all by phone….APPLE YOU OWE ME FOR THIS STUFF UP!

    • Tim

      05/16/2016 at 1:24 pm

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and I’m experiencing the exact same thing for incoming calls. My phone hangs up after one incoming ring, but it does this up to 3 times. It’s a shame we can’t go back to iOS 9.2.1.

Listen up people, I got it direct from the horses mouth Apple techo) a couple of years ago when I identified a major flaw in iTunes, anyone except top management admitting to a problem with any Apple product or software faces instant dismissal. Make NO comment is their policy no matter what.
Fortunately I ditched my iPhone and went Android, while I have had a couple of small issues over the last two years, on the whole it has been a far better experience. And yes I still have an iPad Mini, but it is not used for anything critical, and I will not be upgrading the OS any time soon, that is for sure.

I’m having problems as well. Screen will freeze and I end up having to sleep phone, go thru passcode to bring phone back up. It randomly freezes the screen, so, I haven’t seen it in a specific function or app. (IPhone 6+, 9.3.1). I wish I never would have installed. Apple, this should not be too hard to sort out.

This update bricked my phone. Cannot connect to iTunes or even get out of recovery in spite of having been on the phone with Apple for over two hours since yesterday. Had this had happened last week I would have been unable to access several expensive rail m-tickets I had on my phone. Miffed enough as it is – had I been unable to catch those trains, I’d have been apoplectic. Can’t say as I’ve had *too* many problems with Apple since first starting out with the iPhone 3 but a f*ck-up as monumental as this will have me seriously looking at android phones next time around.

iPhone 6s Plus…. Works like a dream, not a problem in sight! Trouble with technology is when it is put in the hands of Luddites they blame the equipment, not the fact that they should stick to carrier pigeon and bartering for food…..

IPhone 6s Plus…………….Since updating to 9.3 and then 9.3.1 the phone has been wonky……..locks up all the time and won’t allow me to answer calls half the time. I sent my perfectly good iP 6s Plus back to Apple and they sent me a new (rebuilt) one the next day. I had planned on just leaving it with 9.2 on it but then when I went to download my icloud backup it required me to first load 9.3.1 back on it. Well I bit hook line and sinker and now I’m back to square one again. Going with the Samsung S6 next.

After update from 9.2 to 9.3.1: several disconnection periods from usb interface, when connected to dock (in a samsung mini audio system), and the same appens when connected via usb to a 1510 AV receiver Harman Kardon (iphone compatible).

In both iphone 4S and 6S.

I never buy again a iphone (I downgrade to 9.2.1, and issues persist, the downgrade to 9.2 was impossible).

Since the update my home button doesn’t work properly. Takes forever to get it to do something and it no longer acknowledges or offers fingerprint for unlocking my phone. My phone is a 5s!! I’m due an upgrade in July and seriously considering going to Samsung now!!

    • Kyle

      04/13/2016 at 2:50 pm

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m ready to ditch iPhone and go to Samsung. Just got off the phone with Apple support, and he tells me I need to hard reset my phone to get these audio issues resolved with the iOS 9.3.1 update. I know others have tried that and it didn’t work for them. He claims it’s no one’s fault, but I beg to differ! We would not need all these constant incremental updates if Apple will just get their crap together the first time around. They never want to take responsibility for anything, and when you call them on their crap they try to say it’s your fault or you did something wrong. I’m sick of it, and I’m sick of having a device that is unreliable.

Hi, I have an iPhone 6s+ and the issue I was getting with this update was that the phone would turn off after auto-locking, I changed th settings (in general>Auto-lock) to 2 minutes instead of 1 min. So far so good, it’s the second day now and the iPhone is not turning off after auto-lock mode:) I hope this helps anyone, cheers:)

Just as mater of intereset, would Apple have refunded the three Manchester – London m-tickets I had on my iPhone 6 but was unable to access due to to 9.3.1 download. I’m not a newbie and followed instructions to the the ‘T’ yet stood to lose ot out in the region of of $150 for these trips had they occurred a week earlier. I’m sure others weren’t so lucky. For once, I don’t blame the rail comapnies on this occasion, much as I’d like to.:D

I can’t stand this new upgrade. Screen freezes. Battery life is so awful. The screen will suddenly flip from top to bottom. I wish I could go back.

  53. Steve Gibbs

    04/19/2016 at 11:44 pm

I don’t often have problems after an update, but after the 9.3.1 update on my 6 plus, almost on a daily basis now the screen will freeze up and the only buttons that work are the home button and power button. A soft reset solves the problem, temporarily. The freeze up occurs when opening up an app (safari, camera, mail are most noticeable) and is becoming a royal pain in the butt.

I am totally done with Apple (after four iPhones, two iPads, and two MacBook Pros). This iOs 9.3.x “upgrade” has rendered my 6s useless for a month now. I just boughta Blackberry Priv (Android). Apple disgusts me. Only their sheer size allows them to destroy phones and walk away with no payment to the owners.

Sorry you’re all having problems. My wife and I both recently got new 6s iPhones and are not having any issues whatsoever. They’re great. Both running 9.3.1.

Updated 9. 3.1 in my 6plus and now my camera roll won’t work! Nor will my favorites or Photo Stream! I do a lot of creative work and if my camera roll is goofy I CANNOT get to my professional work. Apple isn’t very PRO if they can’t get their kinks worked out!

The same with me ppl, after i updated to 9.3.1, my phone became useless, there’s a grey flickering on the top of the screen, and most of the time unresponsive touch screen, i just want to throw it out the window!

Afraid to update. I used to be a fan of Apple. I talked to someone today that was talking about buying a new PC. In the past I would have suggested getting an iMac and talked about how great Apple products were. I remained silent and the topic changed. The Apple demise is very disheartening. I thought Jobs’ death would not impact the company but it is obvious they have lost their discipline since his death. Sad for everyone.

The new update is awful! It worked fine for another a week then all of last week my phone won’t connect to the wifi. On the odd occasion it will connect with only one tiny signal bar! As a beauty blogger wifi on my phone and other devices is essential!

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6 it is now stuck on “Update Requested” when I did the sofeware update for iOS 9.3.2. I just want SOMEONE to tell me how to get back to the 9.1 and I will not update anymore software on this iPhone 6. Sure screwed up everything.

I basically have no 4G functionality since I upgraded. Calls that do connect, after many attempts, are weak, are often full of static, and disconnect quite frequently. All of my emails disappeared, I can’t text, and my connectivity generally shows 1 bar or “No Service”. When wifi is available, I can rarely connect, and only to really strong signals. I’ve done everything but totally reset my phone. I’m about 95% sure I’m done with iPhones. Samsung, give me a deal!

I agree with most of the people posting. iOS 9.3.2 on my iPhone 6 is killing my battery in about 5 hours to 7% 50% in less than 4 hours. Additionally, music starts playing on its own — with songs and artists I would never select. It also seems to dial the phone periodically on its own, not your typical “but dialing”…

Could Apple have deliberately introduced bugs to force folks to upgrade to iPhone 7??????????

Well, I just got the 9.3.3 iOS beta, so lets see what happens!

It is a nightmare. My issues with battery drain got even worse with 9.3.3. Battery lasts less than an hour. A Whatsapp message drained 10% of battery, no other app running. Right after updating, phone drained from 75% to 45% only by using Safari form a few minutes and then shut down. When I connect to the outlet, battery immediately shows much more charge (60-something in the case of the shutdown). My phone is totally unreliable, I have to keep it connected to battery charger, outlet, USB port in my car , etc, all the time. Had to use Waze and phone run from 100% to shutdown in less than ten minutes, leaving me lost in the middle of heavy traffic! What’s the point of having a phone in this condition????!!! I am extremely, extremely disappointed with Apple and feeling impotent. Their products are expensive, it gets me mad to keeping looking for solution on the internet because they can’t solve it. I have tried to synch battery lots of times and it simply didn’t work. I just don’t know what to do except forfeiting using this phone in which I spent a lot of money…

I have been having the same issues since updating to 9.0. Daughter having same issue. I am afraid to update my iPad. And the accessory equipment is falling apart – the plastic has peeled off the cables to charge the iPhones and iPad. Have had iPhones since iPhone 2 will never buy another one or any apple product for that matter. It is now junk.

Ya, I have 6s and after update, nothing but problems. Battery life and wifi are the worst. I have taken into the shop and they make it work by updating some other small update. When I leave problems are worse, and they just minimize it. Makes ME feel like the idiot. Good to know others suffer the same.
You would think that having the newest I Phone would be best. WRONG!

I chose Apple because I thought it was trustworthy, would keep my data secure, etc. After the recent download to my iPhone 6 to “provide increased security”; too many things are a major screw up… including my landline. Now I’m really “bugged”… fix it quickly.

This is bullshit my husband updated to 9.3.5 not even meaning to and now his phone is almost unusable very mad and disappointed. His phone freezes, takes random screenshots, doesn’t register when he tries to unlock the phone or answer phone calls or even put in a password for iTunes, this is BS to the fullest. If our upgrades were ready We would be switching from iPhone over this crap. There’s also a white bar at the top of his screen that won’t go away. We are business owners and this is very inconvenient for us. I’ve trouble shooted his phone from what other forums have said to do and it works for a little bit and then gets shitty again. Wtf?!?! Apple needs to fix this issue or replace ever phone that has problems due to the update and have it back to the last working operating system.
