Intel launches Core 2 Duo ULV processors

According to, Intel has added two new ultra low voltage processors to its Core 2 Duo family. The two new processors are the 1.06 ghz U7500 and the 1.2 ghz U7600.

We can expect to see these new processors showing up in ultra-portables like the Fujitsu P1610 Tablet PC, slates, ultra portable notebooks, and hopefully UMPCs. Might we see the Motion Computing LS800 move to a Core 2 Duo ULV? Definitely looks possible.

All of this is great news, but it will be interesting to find out what the impact on battery life will be. Hopefully, we’ll start to see power options that will slip to a single processor while on battery, and use both processors while on AC. is also reporting that Gateway will be among the first to release this new Core 2 Duo ULV offering in its E-100M notebook around early May.
