WPF/E Becomes Silverlight

Published

on

I’ve been a big fan of the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and its lighter cousin Windows Presentatoin Foundation Everywhere (WPF/E). Haven’t been a fan of the name since it was shifted from the codename Avalon. At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) confab, Microsoft revealed some new info and a new name for WPF/E. Now it is christened Silverlight. The news is that this video playback technology for browsers will allow playback of WMV files in both PCs and Macs. Microsoft promises more to come at Mix07.
