Control a Computer with Only Your Brain

Published

on

This is a remarkable advancement for those who suffer from paralysis or other crippling handicaps. Using the marvels of technology and the human brain this interface allows a user to communicate with a computer and via only their thoughts entere letters, that then become words on a screen. Apparently 100 sensors listen to brain cells and record and translate the signals from neurons in the brain sending them along to the computer. This aired on 60 Minutes last night, and watching it is simply awe inspiring.

Bio-technology has always been something that I have a lot of mixed feelings on. I’m always impressed to see positive advances like this, but I’m always a bit intimidated by the negative consequences.

This is no different. Very impressive, indeed, but I hope that as the technology is perfected they implement a number of safeguards to prevent tampering and malicious design. The paranoia in me can see the system being hacked and reprogrammed to do things it’s not supposed to do.

But I can’t deny the amazing advancement or the gifts that this technology can offer.
