In addition to the screenshots we’ve posted for Windows 7 Tablet PC TIP, math input panel, and Windows 7 Log On keyboard, here are some other miscellaneous Windows 7 screenshots from various utilities and widgets.
By the way….it is worth pointing out that I have yet to run in to a single application incompatibility in my testing of Windows 7. Every app I’ve installed under Vista has installed and run perfectly under Windows 7.

| Windows 7 Explorer – notice the new grouping under Libraries, and new option called Communications. When searching and looking through Explorer, everything is stored under the Libraries context ( Communications, Documents, Pictures, Music, etc) |
 |
| The Communications option will allow you to search multiple Communications libraries from Windows Live, Outlook ( calendar, email, etc), and then work with those communication items. |
 |
| Doing a Windows key + P launches this display connection utility, which is much nice and quicker to get to than the Mobility Center |

| Windows Update – 1st screen |

| Windows Update – Reviewing Updates screen |

| Network connectivity a single click popup from the task tray – a HUGE improvement over the previous version |

I absolutely love the libraries feature. I don’t actually store music, pictures, videos, etc, on my tablet PC or my desktop, but instead on a separate Windows Home Server computer. The My Documents in XP and just Documents in Vista was therefore a complete waste. In Windows 7 though, you can add any folders you want to this, its great.
Have you managed to get any ISO mounting programs to work? Daemon tools lite will not run for me and I am stuck having to burn isos instead of mounting them.
Thanks
Tyler – I’m using Virtual Clone drive from SlySoft.com – free

If you want to attempt enabling the new taskbar (although the feature isn’t entirely finished, as noted in the article).
I’ve tried it – can’t get it to work.
Installed and running really nicely on Fujitsu p1610! I’m liking this so far!
Tyler, Power ISO works fine.
Thanks guys, much appreciated!
I have the new toolbar working. It looks nice. I know the functionality is diminished right now, but I like the few features that are working. Inking in Vista was great compared to XP, but inking in 7 really polishes up the experience…
Overall, I’m very impressed with what I’m seeing in the Windows 7 screenshots and videos. I certainly can’t wait to get my hands on it myself!
I think they made the right decision by bringing so many Office 2007 project managers, designers, and developers over to the Windows 7 team. They demonstrated with Office that they can make the end-user experience their top priority, and it’s nice to see them giving the same influence to the Windows team.
PS– Regarding Windows Update… the real test will come when Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is released…
If I have to download 154 updates over the course of 4 reboots before SP1 is even offered to me (the way Vista is presently on a clean install), it doesn’t matter how much easier the individual steps are.
