Touching Games

Published

on

Ben at UMPCPortal has started a series highlighting games that are touch screen friendly. His first installment showed off a nifty little game called Factory Balls. His second installment features a game called, get this, World of Goo, which is available on the PC, Mac OSX and the Nintendo Wii.

The basis of the game involves creating structures, out of animated balls of goo, to reach the goal. The game is based on a convincing physics system so make sure that you goo structures don’t topple over! The game is $20 for PC, but there is a demo version

I may have to get a touch screen device just to try out some of these games. In the meantime, I’ll be following Ben’s series.

On a related note I’d like to recommend “The longest journey”. You can get this classic using steam and it worked like a charm on my original Samsung Q1.

World of goo is amazing! I got it for the wii and it is great! Just when you think you understand the game it just gets different and fun. Try the pc demo first, it works fine landscape on a tablet and is not graphically demanding, keyboard is required the first time only to type in the name of your save file. Best tablet pc game ever!

Yes, buy World of Goo. I have an XT and I actually prefer to play it with a pen anyway, its got more accuracy that way.

Yes world of goo is a nice game.
But I have to agree to vm-01 that The Longest Journey is a perfect game for a tablet PC. Especially the story and the scenery are great.

Try the really old Dos game Ascendancy by The Logic Factory. It’s interface is almost completely touch based, and it’s free!
