IMG_0366 Time for a shoot out again on GottaBeMobile!   Over the next week or so I’ll be doing some testing on the 2 HP units I have sitting on my desk.   The older tx2015 and the updated version that I put up a post about, the tx2525.   I’ll be starting out with some benchmarks later tonight, so stay tuned!

Now where is that mouse, these touch pads are driving me crazy!!   Nothing actually wrong with the touch pads, I just prefer the eraser head and it’s been so long since I’ve had to use a touch pad.

I had a Fujitsu B2130 in 1998 or so, then a Toshiba M200 in around 2003. Touchscreen is great for some tasks, but for many others it’s not well adapted. The latter includes navigating the operating environment and using the majority of applications. Sadly companies like Microsoft’s attempts at improving this situation systematically seem spastic at best. We’re going to have to hope for a gradual reworking of how UI works, starting from research projects, up to well integrated but intentionally limited companies like Apple, including occasional UI “brands” like HTC, HP, Nokia, open source, and Google/Android, to redefine how computers work, one slow step at a time.

I can’t help think there’s some intentionally innovative concept behind the TX line, because it tries to include so many innovations at a low price point, but as so often happens, HP’s product managers probably stepped in and made sure the product fit one marketing niche, rather than trying to create something that is really great.

This sounds like fun, is it possible to also wait a while so that you could include the TX2 aswell would be very interesting to compare the touch functionality of the resistive/wacom version against the capacitive/ntrig version.
