Google Sync Comes to iPhones, Uses Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Protocol

Published

on

Wow – Google is now offering FREE Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync syncronization for Calendars and Contacts.   Mail is not currently supported. iPhone, Windows Mobile, and other various phones are supported. Head over to m.Google.com/sync to learn more, and the devices supported. Heads up – setting up sync will wipe all calendar and contact data on your iphone, so be sure to back up your data first.

Very nice! Where did you see the part about mail synchronization coming later, though? I don’t see any mention of it on the blog announcement: https://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009/02/google-sync-beta-for-iphone-winmo-and.html

I misread it earlier ,though – it says currently contacts and calendars only supported, which seems to imply that, hopefully, mail will be coming, too. I guess we’ll see

Ah I see. Yeah that does make it seem like they plan on coming out with a full solution in the future. Man I hope so. =)

    Thanks for the link.
