  1. I will have firefox to browse the internet and use media player classic for my audio and video files. For reading pdf files, I shall use foxit pdf reader. For making pdf files, I shall use nova.

  2. ErikH says:

I’d add memory and a hard drive for sure. Would use FF, Chrome,OneNote,Evernote, Skype.

  3. Jane says:

I’ll be using this as my secondary computer. Therefore, I don’t anticipate adding any major extras other than extra memory.

  4. G.Smith says:

If I win I will use this as a secondary computer, when I’m away from home, or visiting friends and family. I would upgrade the memory and add a larger hard drive. This would be great for sharing pics and videos with family.

  5. Naomi Caneda says:

I would use this as a secondary computer. Firefox is a must for web browsing and of course windows live for IMing. I would probably have to see if I needed to add a larger harddrive or more memory =).

  6. I would use it as a primary home computer. My work laptop stays at work now and I use my desktop to remote in at need. As a developer, I am interested in writing apps that are ink Enabled. Could you ink enable your comments?

  7. Derrill says:

First thing, ram and hard drive upgrade, then xp pro, skype, miro, avast, and chrome. Light and simple, thats all I need it for.

  8. I would mainly use Remote Desktop to connect to my desktop since I have yet to find a Tablet with enough horsepower to be a primary programming box. I will also use IE to browse.

  9. C.M. says:

I’ll use the netbook for school work mostly or for work on the go. Application wise, I’ll be using Firefox, Evernote, and Onenote. For accessories, I’ll be using a broadband module for internet access anywhere and my trusty Cricket laptop stand. I might also try installing linux to see more operating system improvement.

  10. Mahmoud Hammoudeh says:

I would give to mt brother who will use as a primary computer.

  11. smh says:

I would primarily use the S10 in the lab, because the student labs at the university I’m studying at only have a desktop computer for several microscopes and it would be great to be able to load the software on a portable computer and have the opportunity to manipulate with the data and move to a different microscope without the need to move a 20 some kilo desktop(back pain after a few tries :( ). Since the ideapad has USB, I will manly use a Serial to USB converter for the microscope interface and load a custom linux on the device for the data measurement software.
As for hardware upgrades, there won’t be any in the near future as the specs from stock are good enough as a data gathering unit.

I would use a bluetooth mouse, a portable bluetooth printer and as far as applications go, I would use it main for surfing the net with Google chrome as it is not as resource heavy as Firefox when using on a netbook.

  13. Charles says:

I would use a wireless keyborad & mouse when at home, and a bluetooth mouse when on the road.

Softwre wise, I’d probably use MS-Office (or possibly OpenOffice) along with Firefox, Thunderbird and ECCO (my favorite PIM).

If I can get used to a smaller screen, I’d use it as my primary PC…

  14. ChrisRS says:

This would be a mobile computer for my wife. Word and scheduling for 4 kids. Probably would link to desktop at home for backup and email. Internet “couch surfing” mostly at home

  15. Booji says:

The ideapad would be a great addition to my office. Since we use an EMR at the hospital, accessing patient records right at their bedside would be great, especially when wanting to show them post-operative x-rays of fracture reductions, prostheses, etc. The ideapad, being as small and powerful as it is, would be a wonderful addition for this purpose.

  16. Alicia Cpleman says:

The computer would give me and my kids a chance to have a computer. We can finally come up to the 21st century. It would give use the ability to learn and develope on a level like everyone else.

  17. Andrius says:

I would install ubuntu 9.04 on it, would be nice one to spread open source

  18. Andre says:

Getting tired of lugging a large laptop around and would like to test out the usability of a much lighter laptop. Right now I’m running, Outlook, Revit, Ecotect, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Bluebeam PDF Revu, Journal, Juice, ACDsee, Gimp, a few databases, and of course Firefox. Since this would be a secondary computer, I’m really curious if it could handle any of my productivity apps during my daily commute. Revit would be the most important even at a basic level.

  19. Katherine D. says:

In terms of applications, if I win this, I’d take the opportunity to try some new things my current computer can’t take due to its old/dusty status. I’ve heard greats things about Ubuntu, so I’d like to try that. I’d like to try OpenOffice as well.

Accessories…I don’t know. I’d probably post here for ideas. I’m an accessories virgin!

  20. Xavier says:

Thank you for entering this contest. It’s closed as of 8pm PDT on 3/22.

  21. Helmut says:

Using Firefox for web browsing would be my main use of the S10. Checking email with Outlook would be secondary, and using SlingPlayer for remote TV watching would be my third main application usage. Most likely would only use a cordless mouse as a peripheral device for the S10. May also use a Bluetooth GPS with MS Streets and Trips when I want a larger screen than my GPS unit.

  22. Ainsley says:

I’d upgrade the ram then use the computer while traveling for email, skype, and sharing pictures. I’d use xp pro, firefox, avira, office.
