CNBC Invents Fictitious MacBook to Argue Against PCs

Published

on

CNBC’s Silicon Valley bureau chief went on air on Friday, proclaiming Mac’s superiority. According to Jim Goldman, MacBooks come loaded with Photoshop, have faster processors than, have 4x the battery performance and weight 1.2 pounds less than PC notebooks.

Avram Piltch from Laptop Mag picked apart what Goldman had to say here, and I chimed in over at Notebooks.com.

I’m a Mac and PC user and can appreciate people’s enthusiasm for both platforms, but the info presented in the below video is just wrong in so many ways. Maybe Goldman’s never seen a business notebook, tablet PC, ultraportable or netbook?

    I think it’s funny that he refers to OSX as OS10.

    @Ryan
    Isn’t that how it’s supposed to be?
    X is the roman equivalent of 10

    I was laughing so hard when they discussed that you have to buy software for the PC/laptop and when they proclaimed that photoshop is included in an Apple software. There are free and much better software compared to those they mentioned; and not even speaking about the weight comparison x(

    Where did they find this guy?

    The didn’t even mention the incompatibility of Apple computers nor did they ever mention the lack of standard extensions and so on. And mac’s not crashing? has he ever tried one? How the h*** did he go from “geek squad” to iLife?

    I would guess that 95% or so of the viewing audience of that show are PC users – as such I think he lost a lot of credibility using such inflated numbers. Wow, 4x the battery life – my HP gets around 5-6, so I should expect 20 to 24 hours using that free Photoshop. The same Intel processors that are faster, just because it’s in a MAC? So, is he really just trying to push the Apple stock price higher? I will keep my TPC’s thanks very much.
