Plantronics Offers Its Next BlueTooth Headset: The Voyager Pro

Published

on

voyagerprod Not to be out done by its competitor Aliph, Plantronics has released its latest BlueTooth headset, The Voyager Pro. Both companies are competing fiercely for a place on the side of your head.

Plantronics promises as much noise cancellation as Aliph’s new Jawbone Prime. There are obvious physical differences as the Voyager Pro looks like a  much bigger device and and part of that is the battery that fits behind the ear and that promises up to 6 hours of talk time and the extended microphone. It doesn’t look as design or ‘fashion’ conscious as the Jawbone Prime, but then that becomes a real user choice. The Voyager Pro costs only $99 compared to the $129 Jawbone Prime.

Vincent Nguyen of SlashGear and spent some time with both the Voyager Pro and the Jawbone Prime and has posted some thoughts on both. If you’re in the market for a new BlueTooth headset is thoughts and comparisons are worth taking a look at.

I just tried the Pro and it wasn’t impressive. I currently use the Plantronics 925 and the 925 is actually clearer in standard environments than the Pro. The Pro was only marginally better in noisy environments. Both have clearer sound than the jawbone 2 except in noisy environments. The Pro is large but very comfortable. Incoming call volume is slightly lower than the 925 but much louder than the jawbone. My opinion is if you have the 925 or jawbone 2 right now it is not a worthy upgrade. If you have neither and will be in noisy environments and want better overall call quality than the jawbone this would work. Remember that Bluetooth headsets work differently with every cell phoneand call quality varies as well. You might need to test a few before you find the one that works best with your phone.
