Lenovo Bumping The X200 Tablet PC to 2.13 ghz?

Published

on

Those Canadians sure know how to get a leg up on us Yanks. Lenovo is offering Canadians the X200 Tablet PC with a whole variety of speed configurations, not the least of which is a 2.13 ghz option costing only $125 more. Meanwhile, we in the U.S. are still stuck with only 1.2 and 1.86 ghz choices. What gives Lenovo? I want my 2.13 ghz love, too.

Dammit, still too slow for me in Canada, I already bought my x200t!

can we upgrade our x200t’s relatively easily? :)

What is the added power consumption for a 2.13 GHz processor? I think this is important in making a good choice. Can one achieve the same problem free performance from a 1.86 GHz processor?

Thankfully, I didn’t purchase the x200 Tablet (I got the x61 instead back in August, just before the x200t came out) so when *I* decide to purchase a new Lenovo, I won’t feel in the least bit guilty. But I feel terrible for my mother, who uses the x200; she would have loved to have the 2.13 GHz CPU. Come on! :P

As a seperate FYI, the HP 2730p was also recently upgraded to 2.13 GHZ on their site. Fortunately for me it is available on the US site (not sure about in Canada).

I don’t know about X200’s in particular, but I have exchanged notebook CPU’s many times. My 600e and a few compaq’s I’ve opened have switchable CPU’s. That’s not to say all of them do though.

To me 2.13 sounds so yesterday.

    It’s all about the TDP! 17W! :)

also for switchable cpu, yea, my old dell and toshiba m200 had sockets you can switch out a cpu on, I assumed it was just a bios support for the chip you plug in.

I did notice this as I am considering purchasing an x200t before I return to University in the fall; this a nice bonus. It’s about time Lenovo gives us something to brag about; you Yanks have all those nice bargains in the Lenovo Outlet (that they wont ship north of the border). The new Canadian Outlet has ZERO laptops offered atm. Although, if you scroll down on the Canadian shop page for the x200t, there is another new option available: A 500GB 5400rpm Hard Drive option for the bargain price of… $9,840.00 (Ok, I know the CAD $ is not doing too well these days, but that’s a bit excessive, lol)

Update: The 2.13GHz CPU option is no longer available; must have been a mistake on Lenovo’s part to list it.
The Hard Drive optiion is still available though…

I’ve seen options disappear and then reappear from Lenovo’s online store, namely, the WiMAX for the x200t, which is now an option. I really hope it wasn’t a mistake, and that Lenovo will revive it. Did anyone purchase a tablet while the 2.13 GHz option was available? If it was a mistake, they’d have to be reimbursed and there might be some notice about it… (like when the 128GB SSD was accidentally available for 0 dollars).

I ordered a full load X200T on the 4th, every option including the 2.13Ghz CPU (except for the super valued 9K SSD option), I found set of stacking coupons and knocked over 1K off the total price.
I also noticed the 2.13Ghz CPU removed from the site yesterday, called Lenovo to get a status update on the build of my system, and now they are “getting back to me”…..
