ECS Announces Qualcomm-based T800 At Computex

ecs_t800-480x389 ECS showed off a mockup of their upcoming T800 smartbook at Computex 2009 and Sascha from netbooknews.com got some hands-on time with the device. The T800 is reminiscent of the Sony Vaio P we showcased at CES 2009 with a slim casing and elongated chassis. The 8.1” display and chicklet keyboard are very similar to the Vaio P. ECS departs from Sony with the internals of the device, offering instead a Texas Instruments processor running either 800MHz or 1GHz. The device comes with 512MB RAM and houses a 2.5” HDD or SSD.

Android is the OS of choice for the T800, and if things go according to ECS’s plans, the device will also sport HSPA and WiMax connectivity. Since TI is in the business of mobile phones, it won’t be a far stretch to see this device as being a constant-on machine, allowing for instant-on and immediate email pushing, much like the Asus Snapdragon EEE PC. Check out Sasha’s hands-on look of the device below.
