Posted by | 06/08/2009 | 3 Comments

fingerprint Word is coming out that the new iPhone 3GS will have a fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating that is designed to keep all those greasy smudges off the screen. Maybe others will follow suit, including Apple itself and we’ll start to see devices that don’t immediately become greasy messes.

Neat idea if it actually works.

Chances are it is similar to anti-reflective coatings I prescribe in my practice (I’m an optometrist). Even though the best coatings currently available are leaps and bounds above what we had before, they still smudge but are easier to clean. Long story short, it will still smudge.
