TomTom Navigation Comes To The iPhone

Being mobile for us is part of the game we play.   Many of us use a portable GPS mounted in the car Now there is a new option if you have an iPhone!

Turn by Turn using TomTom on the iPhone!   Noted as being available ‘this summer’.

    This is great news. I’m only hoping that TomTom also goes down in the pricing. Keeping the maps and software updated yearly is not cheap at TomTom’s, at least what I know for sure in Europe. I hope Apple made a good deal with TomTom.

    If it all holds true, the iPhone could be become the swiss army knife of the mobile world. I will certainly take an iPhone into the mountains!

    The demo that was done of the TomTom application and mounting accessory was pretty cool. I really liked it, and I’m not a big GPS person. The mounting accessory holds the iPhone in portrait or landscape orientation and also acts as a Bluetooth handsfree headset and a radio link for your iPhone music. It mounts to either your dash or your window.

    Combine that with a pretty well-thought-out turn by turn nav system and it’s a great addition. However – they didn’t mention pricing at all. Not surprising, since they didn’t mention pricing on any of the add-on apps, but I’m still mightily curious…
