US customers can pre-order their copy of Windows 7 Home Premium for $49 and Windows 7 Professional for $99 via Best Buy, Amazon, or Microsoft. It’s nice to see that the “bargain” deals for early upgrades and new PC purchases are being very competitive. It’s certainly a good buy to get Professional for $100 if you act on it.

Fortunately, I will just take advantage of my TechNet subscription, but for my family members I’m gonna buy several of the Home Premium copies at $50.

    Of importance:

Netbooks with XP are NOT eligible. Computers bought from a manufacturer that ship with both XP and Vista (downgraded essentially) ARE eligible. Computers running Vista Home Basic are NOT eligible.

The above is from the official Microsoft documentation provided to me at work.

To clarify the above, that’s for the free upgrade deal.

I had TK i440Dr without an operating system and put Windows 7RC on it. Can I use an upgrade from 7RC or only in there was Vista on it originally? Anyone know, can’t seem to find the answer.
