Windows 7 Pricing and Availability Confirmed
Brandon LeBlanc is confirming the availability and pricing for Windows 7 on the Windows Blog.
Here’s what we’ll see:
On October 22 Windows 7 will be released in the following languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Chinese (Hong Kong).
On October 31 the remaining languages will be released. They include: urkish, Czech, Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian, Arabic, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Slovenian, Hebrew, Thai, Croatian, Serbian Latin, and Latvian.
Here are the upgrade and full package pricing details:
The estimated retail prices for upgrade packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:
- Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
- Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
- Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99
And the estimated retail prices for full packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:
- Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
- Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
- Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99
Tomorrow, June 26, customers who buy a Windows PC will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 for little or no cost. There is a link in Brandon’s article (here) but it seems to be broken at the moment and will probably go live tomorrow.
Special Pre-Order Offer: In select markets and through select vendors you can pre-order Windows 7 for a bigger discount. US customers can pre-order their copy of Windows 7 Home Premium for $49 and Windows 7 Professional for $99 via Best Buy, Amazon, or Microsoft. That offer begins tomorrow and ends July 11. Again the link probably won’t go live until tomorrow, June 26 but here it is.

It’s nice to see that the “bargain” deals for early upgrades and new PC purchases are being very competitive. It’s certainly a good buy to get Professional for $100 if you act on it.
Fortunately, I will just take advantage of my TechNet subscription, but for my family members I’m gonna buy several of the Home Premium copies at $50.

Of importance:
Netbooks with XP are NOT eligible. Computers bought from a manufacturer that ship with both XP and Vista (downgraded essentially) ARE eligible. Computers running Vista Home Basic are NOT eligible.

I had TK i440Dr without an operating system and put Windows 7RC on it. Can I use an upgrade from 7RC or only in there was Vista on it originally? Anyone know, can’t seem to find the answer.
