Is the Vega tablet a final version of the NVIDIA prototype?

I was taking a closer look at the upcoming Vega tablet from ICD and could not help but notice the resemblance to the prototype media pad tablet spotted earlier this week with the CEO of NVIDIA.

VEGANVIDIATabletsIndicator lights are updated with icons and what looks like a USB port is on the opposite end, but the fundamental layout is the same and that black casing is a spot-on match. It could be argued that all slates look alike to some extent, but this is beyond superficial. Furthermore, under the hood, both are equipped with NVIDIA’s Tegra graphics. If Vega isn’t a production version of the NVIDIA prototype, it sure ought to be.

After checking out the full specs from the website (posted after the jump), I’m pretty interested in seeing this thing in action, particularly the magnetic docking. Been working on my own tablet docking tonight, and I have to say, I could really use a solution that isn’t all about hiding the cable salad.

    1. I’m going to be sorely tempted by the 15″ version when these come out.
