Lessons in Being a New CEO: Don’t Leak Apple Tablet News

Published

on

Stéphane Richard is headed to the CEO chair for Orange/France Telecom. Or maybe not. Apparently on a radio interview this morning he sort confirmed the new Apple Tablet and that it will have a webcam (front facing we’re assuming). Here’s the translated text of the key moment:

Jean-Pierre Elkabbach (the interviewer) : According to Le Point (a french magazine), your partner Apple will be launching a tablet
Stéphane Richard: Yes.
Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: … equipped with a webcam.
Stéphane Richard: Yes.
Jean-Pierre Elkabbach: Will Orange customers also be able to enjoy it?
Stéphane Richard: Of course!, they will actually particularly enjoy it because the webcam will allow live video streaming. It’s a new take on mobile video-conferencing.

The video (in French) is below the jump. I’m guessing no one has bothered to wake Steve Jobs on this as of yet.

This man is close to Nicolas Sarkozy.
He used to be at the head of the cabinet of Christine Lagarde french ministry of economy.

He is among the people Sarkozy has appointed at top places in big companies with the State as main shareholder to create a network of power and influential people that will be bound to him.

At the moment Stephane Richard is number 2 of France Telecom / Orange but he is expected to become number one next year.

This is the kind of hardly republican behaviour that we french have to live with since Mr Sarkozy is the person who is supposed to be our president (I say that because he is more of a political militant (he still leads directly his party where he had no successor) than a real president who is supposed to be the president of all french citizens (which he is not) and being a “referee” above political partisan interests (which he is not either).

For us french observing people that Sarkozy has appointed for his own interest making “gaffes” does “justice” to Mr Sarkozy and is an expression of some form of justice.
