ThinkPad Edge 13 on Camera

Charles Sune from Lenovo gave us a quick overview of the ThinkPad Edge 13. The new ThinkPad Edge series is much more affordable than ThinkPad’s T and X Series, but retains some of the things I like about the more expensive ThinkPads. The keyboard is probably the best one I’ve tried on a 13″ notebook in this price range.

There are both AMD and Intel versions of the ThinkPad Edge 13. The AMD version come with Neo X2 processors and starts at $549. The Intel versions have low-voltage processors and start at $799.

If you’re looking for longer battery life you should of course go with the Intel version, but if you’re more concerned with saving cash or graphics performance you should look at the AMD version. Lenovo says the Intel-powered Edge can run for up to eight hours on a single charge. The AMD version is rated for up to 5.5 hours, which isn’t sufficient for mobile business owners running from place to place. Josh Smith from Notebooks.com has been using an Edge 13 with an Intel processor for about a week and told me that the battery is lasting for between five and six hours while he was covering CES.

Lenovo’s providing us a ThinkPad Edge 13 to give away to a luck GBM or Notebooks.com reader. Visit this page and enter to win by 1/15/10.
