Printing with an iPad

What?  Printing using an iPad you say!  It can’t be done.  We know it cant be done.  We wish it could be done.  Maybe when the iPads update to iPhone OS 4.0, we may get some form of printing capability via Bluetooth or WiFi or something.

Well, the folks over at have a post up today on how a person can print from an iPad today.  Here is a preview:

Happy Friday everyone.

A 15-year veteran of the tech wars, Amy is a gadgetgrrl from way back. Amy is started with the her first PDA, a Palm Pilot III all the way through her current sidearm, a T-Mobile G1. She suffers technolust like any good gadgetgrrl, but its always tempers with whether it will match her shoes and handbag. She bounces from one device to another. She is an OS agnostic-- liking them all for different reasons. She has seen it all and wants to see more.

Sadly this won’t really work with a transmissive display, at least scanning one didn’t really work for me in the past.
With an eInk or reflective display this is a reliable option, but not with a normal transmissive display which the iPad uses.

I am using Air Sharing HD and it prints fine to my wireless Brother 2170 laser. It does include a border, kind of reminding me of that funny picture of the iPad on the copier.
