WePad Changes Name to WeTab

Sascha at NetbookNews informs us that the WePad folks are changing the name of their device to…. wait for it…the WeTab.

I’m guessing this has to do with avoiding any potential legal problems down the road over the word “Pad.” Note that Apple claims it has a trademark, but others say they don’t.

I’m guessing they realized the previous name spoken aloud sounds like a bladder control product.

I too think this is a very strong UI and would love to see it in the market.
This new name seems horrible though.
I guess they feel it showcases their UI somehow, which is what really differentiates this thing.
But I think they’d do better to focus on form factor still to some degree.

“clip” seems like it would have lent itself… from clipboard and also alluding to the ability to clip app elements to different placements in the UI.

But then again… I think this is from a German company, no?
So perhaps I’m being a little too egocentric in my thinking as an american. It is an a common affliction.
