Tablets Burst Out at Computex, Apple Announces 2 Million iPads Sold

Published

on

Apple knows how to keep its hand in your face. Quite a few companies are using the Computex show to bring their hoped for iPad competitors onto the radar screen, and we’ve see a few announcements and prototypes so far. Sitting comfortably in Cupertino while Computex gets underway, Apple announced that iPad sales have now hit the 2 million mark.

That’s a bunch of iPads in two months, and remember International sales just kicked in last week.

Apple is not going to give anyone a break here as they keep the pressure on.

Imagine if iPad v2 sees the woes of not having true “inking” and a USB port. 3 Million in sales??

    Wow.

It would be nice to see a Win7 or other slate before the end of 2010.

Until these “other” tablets get out and we are able to lay hands on them we just don’t know how they will work, especially with Win7 on them–kind of like the all-in-one’s with touch, some are great and some blow.

Latest estimates have the iPad sell ~5 million in total for 2010 while estimates for netbooks for 2010 are ~58 million. So it seems that Apple is selling right around that 5-10% niche they seem to so often find with their other devices, but they are money makers for them.
