HP locks in the “PalmPad” name

Published

on

Actually, trademark filings show a name in all caps, so all we know for certain is that HP has a trademark on “PALMPAD” but presumably they’ll drop the casing on some of those letters if and when they introduce a PalmPad (or Palmpad).

Speculation is that this will be used as the name of the slate formerly known as the Hurricane formerly known only as the HP Slate. More likely it won’t be the name of the device, but the name of the product line, much like their Touchsmart line encompasses several devices and form factors. Looks like a slate running webOS is definitely locked in, but as others frequently point out, there’s no reason they can’t offer that and also a slate running Windows 7, probably as part of the Touchsmart line.
