Good news everyone! Turns out AT&T is not reducing your wireless upload speeds on purpose. Rather, an equipment bug is to blame. A fix is in the works for all you folks who normally enjoy their HSUPA speeds. I am not one of those folks.

I’ve spent a lot of time complaining about AT&T’s service ever since I bought my first iPhone three years ago. It’s been all but impossible to reliably place calls from my home in the middle of San Francisco, even when using a zBoost extender. But something changed yesterday. My iPhone 4 is now displaying five solid [...]

I’m a big fan of in-flight Wi-Fi and have used it every time I fly when it’s offered. One of the main reasons I fly Virgin America when possible is because GoGo is available on every flight. But according to a USA Today article I’m in the minority. The most optimistic estimates are that less than 10% of passengers [...]

Last week we shared a demo video of Thinix Touch 6 that looked pretty impressive. The application sits on top of WIndows, making it easier to get by without a keyboard, mouse or pen. Thinix Touch is generally white labeled and bundled with some touchscreen PCs, such as HP’s TouchSmart all-in-ones. Thinix is now available [...]

People are noticing that their uploads on AT&T, “the nation’s fastest 3G network,” are considerably slower today compared to last week with some claiming a drop from 1Mbps to 100kbps – a 90% hit! I am stunned – stunned, I say – that some people actually saw 1Mbps uploads on a regular basis. Welcome to [...]

Chippy from UMPC Portal published his review of the Viliv N5 yesterday from Germany while most of us in the U.S. took the day off. The Viliv N5 is a tiny clamshell device with a 4.8″ touchscreen display. It looks like a viable option for those that must have Windows in their pockets, but the [...]

Apple has issued a statement about the hacking and fraud that occurred in its App Store recently. The statement takes pains to say that user data wasn’t compromised, but on the other hand Apple is saying that if you think there was suspicious activity on your account to deal with your bank and cancel your [...]

I’m a big fan of Scott eVest clothing. I have several different jackets that I use to tote gadgets and the like. I know Xavier is as well (remember this video?). Scott eVest is preparing to come out with a trench coat and from what I can see will allow you to dispense with carry [...]

It’s the 4th of July weekend here in the states, which means tomorrow is a holiday for many as the end of an extended weekend. Perfect timing to perpetrate a scam on something like the iTunes store. Many news sites and bloggers are taking time off, as I’m sure many support and engineering staffs, including [...]

During my recent trip to Philadelphia, my friend Lawrence, owner of IntecRacing, an auto accessory retailer that fields their own car in U.S drift racing, showed me one of the cameras they mount on their car, the ContourHD.

Cocoa Box Design, the developers of the iPad App, Pen Ultimate (iTunes link) have pushed out an update (v 1.2) that makes digital inking for note takers easier. I’ve written about Pen Ultimate before and Hector Gomez has provided us with a video of it in action. Essentially, the folks at Cocoa Box Design have [...]

Most of us have expected Apple to offer some sort of wireless syncing with iOS devices and iTunes sooner or later. BGR reports that is “definitely” happening soon. Guess if you wait long enough, later becomes sooner.

Apple has put up a letter telling what it thinks is the issue with the “Death Grip” issue and signal degradation. The bottom line? Apple says, in what it calls a surprising discovery, the software that calculates and displays signal bar strength on the screen is inaccurate. Apple is promising a fix for the iPhone [...]

My wife recently clued me in to a term she and the ladies in her office have been using: BlackBerried. Here’s how it’s used.

Market research firm iSuppli (via Slashgear) claims the wireless charging market is set to expand by a factor of 65 by 2014 with more than 200M units shipping by then. Are you charged up about the possibility, or is that too early to cut the cord?

By now you’ve probably heard that Kin, the phone from Microsoft you almost certainly don’t own, is being discontinued and the Kin team is being incorporated into the Windows Phone 7 team. Sadly, I’m not sure they or most others are walking away with the critical lesson here.

TenOneDesign is teasing us with something that might never be. In the video below you can see them using a PogoSketch stylus to Ink on an iPad. Yes, there’s Palm Rejection, but unfortunately the algorithms involved from the InkLet product take advantage of private frameworks and Apple usually rejects Apps that do this as they [...]

Yesterday the news was that Woot! the popular discount shopping site famous for one day one deal bargains was bought by Amazon.com. Like some of other Amazon properties, apparently Woot! is on its own to run its business. (Audible.com comes to mind as another Amazon property that runs this way.) This morning the first Woot! [...]
