Amazing iPhone 4 Band Performance on the Subway

Published

on

Atomic Tom performed live on a New York city subway using just the instrument apps on their iPhones and an amplifier.  Though the iPhone apps might not be as ‘pure’ as  real instruments, this shows that people with creativity and talent don’t have to limit themselves to just one instrument. Of course, iPhones are a lot more portable than any instrument besides a harmonica.

I really wish we had iPhones and iPads back when I studied and played music 5+ hours per day. For a couple of hundred bucks a budding musician can pick up an iPod Touch and be on their way to creating some interesting tunes. Sure beats checking out a 30 year old trombone from band class.

What are the apps they are using? Does anyone know?

I don’t know the music apps well enough to spot them, but they aren’t anything too fancy. There are several synth/piano apps that all look the same (white/black keyboard). The drum kit is standard fare too. if you really listen, the instruments are pretty straight forward.

I know for sure the guitar player (Eric) is using our app iShred (I’m one of the app developers). I’ve read elsewhere the others might be pianist, drum meister, and band for bass.

To celebrate our cameo in the video we even put the app on sale: https://fdgm.us/iShredSale
