BlackBerry Style, Out of Style or Not?

Published

on

BlackBerry and Sprint announced the release date and price for the BlackBerry Style 9670 yesterday. It will be available nationwide on October 31st for $99.99 (after $100 mail in rebate). The BlackBerry Style 9670 is a flip phone with a QWERTY keyboard. I am not much of a BlackBerry fan, but I think this one looks hot and should do well for those that don’t really care to have a big, touch screen smart phone.

For the more than 100 million U.S. consumers who currently use a flip phone, Sprint and Research In Motion today announced the much-anticipated BlackBerry Style 9670 smartphone. BlackBerry Style is an elegant, new flip smartphone featuring a full QWERTY BlackBerry keyboard, the new BlackBerry 6 operating system and a wide range of advanced communications and multimedia capabilities. It will be available in the United States only from Sprint beginning on Oct. 31.

The BlackBerry Style features a full QWERTY BlackBerry keyboard that makes email, messaging and real-time chats with BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) incredibly easy. It also comes with many advanced features, including a 5MP camera with flash and support for video recording, built-in GPS for location-based apps and geo-tagging, Wi-Fi for faster connectivity and extended data coverage, and an expandable memory slot for up to 32GB of additional storage.

Can this be the new Motorola RAZR?

Here’s an official video from Motorola to get you super excited or not!

How a device works and fits is what is important to we. Hot was never something that I got. If I am to carry something on my belt and in a pocket it needs to be of an optimum small size and allow me to to communicate in text, pictures, and email rather well but simply. It also must do voice calls extremely well. My Sprint LG Lotus, old style, does this in the same form as this BB. Style here. That square flip case packs a lot into a very small size. This looks like a good product from that point of view.

I agree and out of all the BlackBerry devices out, this is one I would be willing to carry. I would most likely use the Torch if I had to go bb, but this one would be 2nd if I didn’t “need” a powerful smart phone. (not saying that the Style isn’t powerful, or a smart phone, just saying that I want more)

It is a Blackberry not Motorola right? Just a typo i guess comparing a new phone to a Motorola Razr is a compliment, or an insult? Probably both as the Razr was a high seller, but also an insult as comparing any new phone to an old phone suggest it is inferior

Yes, it is a BlackBerry. The Moto RAZR reference was a comparison to how wildly popular the RAZR was. I can see the Style being popular among the flip phone types. I realize in todays phone world, there will never be another RAZR in terms of popularity. (although the iPhone might have those numbers now)

Style is a nice phone. Just because some do not like flip phones does not mean others don’t. If you don’t like the Style because it is a flip phone then just don’t buy it. Calling it ugly or you don’t understand why RIM would make this, just look at the Sprint website, 21 pages of comments and a customer rating of 4.5+ stars. Looks like it may be cool, I think so I have one along with a Torch, and iPhone 4.
