SugarSync Increases Free Cloud Storage to 5GB

Published

on

There are many competitive tech sectors these days. One of those is Cloud Storage. Most services offer a free amount of storage (the typical has been 2GB) and then offer plans that allow you to buy more.

Recently, Box.net upped its free offering to 5GB and now SugarSync looks to be following along. One of the fundamental differences with SugarSync is that you can sync multiple folders not just a central store. SugarSync, like its competitors allow you to not only share info on different machines but across platforms as well.

I use both SugarSync and the more popular Dropbox as a redundant system. Both work very well and serve my needs independently in addition to offering me the redundancy my paranoia demands.

Check out more on SugarSync here.

Looks like even Microsoft new sync, will also give you 5GB of sync storage. I really like Windows Live Sync, because I just like syncing all my computers without the worry of 5GB of space for free. Starting next year, Microsoft will be changing over to the new sync which will only give you 5GB of space. ;(

Thanks for this great article! I have just signed in and found out that unil 31 december 2010 there is a Limited time offer that allows “free” users to increase the space WITHOUTY limit (see more here https://www.sugarsync.com/faq/referral_program.html#q1_1) (500 mb for each refferal!). That is quite useful! You should point that out too. If someone wants to start with a 5.5GB account go here: https://www.sugarsync.com/referral?rf=eqbsw3or4tpt0

I personally have been using Sugarsync for a long time now and am more than happy. Not only are they cheaper than most of its competitors, they also offer by far the best product in the market today.

Also, their promotion has been extended. If you use the following link to sign up for Sugarsync, you now get 5.5 GB of free online storage forever: https://www.sugarsync.com/referral?rf=ejjfpyq3n6nmz

Good review – here are a few recent changes as of June 2011:
You get 5GB of space with the FREE version, but now there is no restriction to the number of computers you can sync/backup (up from 2).
It gives you the ability to upload and sync any folder on your computer.
It is the only service that offers such a broad device and OS support with apps for BlackBerry, Android, iPhone/iPad, Symbian, not to mention your computer!

Also if you use the below referral code you get a bonus 500MB extra on top of your Free 5GB!

    Hope it helps someone.
