Apple to Delay iOS 4.2 Release Possible WiFi Bug To Blame

Published

on

Given that the supposed release today of iOS 4.2 wasn’t exactly an official thing, the fact that the Internets are going crazy saying Apple is delaying the release is interesting news. This has grown from one site saying the new OS would be released next Tuesday, to a possible two week delay. Speculation centers on there being a bug that doesn’t allow WiFi connections to hold and apparently forums have reports of this being the case after the Gold Master was released. There’s even a video of it in action.

OK, fine. If there is a bug, I’m glad Apple is fixing it prior to the release. Remember there was a bug with WiFi that some experienced when the iPad was initially released. I’m guessing form will follow and at some point we might see an email from Steve Jobs to some customer that says “we never announced that date.”

In the meantime, it’ll happen when it happens. I know there are some GBM users running the Gold Master. Did you experience the WiFi bug? Let us know.

Even with iOS 4.1 there are problems getting WiFi connections to hold.
