Evernote for Windows adds OneNote import

Published

on

Evernote has released a minor bump to the Windows version of their software, but it adds a feature that many Tablet PC users may consider major: the ability to import notes from OneNote.

Per the Evernote Blogcast:

Import and export

Microsoft OneNote users can now import their notes from OneNote 2007 and 2010 into Evernote. For those looking to export their notes from Evernote, we’ve added support for MHT export.

I have not had a chance to try it so I don’t know how ink notes translate, but there must be a format change given the differences between the applications. The ability to export notes to mht format is similar to OneNote’s export option, but I don’t know how well this will allow notes to go from Evernote to OneNote.

In addition to the import/export update, version 4.0.2 adds in-note search (uses the Ctrl+F keyboard shortcut) and improved note editing. The update will be pushed out automatically to everyone using Evernote 3.5; the completely re-coded version 4.0 had to be downloaded manually.

I could swear the previous version had this too when I tried it out. I wasn’t very impressed with the ink import then, however.
