Contest: Win $150 ScotteVest Gift Certificate (Black Friday Giveaway)

Published

on

If you love to have all of your gadgets and gear with you wherever you are, then you usually need to commit to wearing a backpack or carrying a purse with you at all times, but not if you have a ScotteVest jacket or vest. These are the same clothing items Rolf Potts used to travel around the world without a bag and that we use to cover CES.

To celebrate Black Friday, ScotteVest has given us $300 in gift certificates to give away. We are giving away one $150 gift certificate on Notebooks.com and another $150 gift certificate on GottaBeMobile. So you have two chances to win and all you have to do is leave a comment in the post answering 2 simple questions. The winner will be chosen on Sunday November 28th so that he or she can use the gift certificate on the ScotteVest Cyber Monday sale!

These comfortable jackets and vestspantshoodiesshirts and even boxers have specially designed pockets that are specifically designed to hold anything from a MacBook or an iPad to your smartphone, travel documents, baby formula, eyeglasses cleaningcloth, camera….the list goes on. They even have a collection of ScotteVest clothing designed just for women that has a more flattering cut.

Many of the ScotteVest jackets and vests have over 20 pockets that actually hold your gear comfortably without screaming “I have $2,00 worth of electronics in my pockets!” Best of all, there is a special weight management system so while you can tell you have gear with you it doesn’t feel like it is throwing you off balance like it would if you put all this in a regular coat. Did I mention that these jackets are also really comfortable and don’t look like you re-purposed your dad’s fishing vest for the trip?

I wore the new ScotteVest Revolution Plus to Thanksgiving yesterday and already sold my Brother in Law on one for his upcoming trip as well as blew the minds of relatives on my father’s side of the family with how much you can fit in the ScotteVest without looking like a walking electronics store.

Notebooks.com and GottaBeMobile ScotteVest Reviews:

How To Enter the Notebooks.com / GottaBeMobile ScotteVest Contest:

  • Leave a comment below telling us which ScotteVest item you would buy with the gift certificate,
  • and what you would put in the pockets.

The contest will run until Sunday November th at midnight PST  at which time we will pick a winner using Random.org to select a random number. The contest is open to U.S. residents over the age of 18. You can enter the contest once on Notebooks.com and once on GottaBeMobile.

If I got the gift certificate, I would get the new outback jacket. It just looks great and will definitely be put to use during these next chilly months.
Let’s see… I would put a cell phone, ipod touch, kindle, wallet, sunglasses, and even a bottle of water in the pockets. I could still go on, however. Keys, pocket change, headphones, extra batteries or chargers… :)

I would buy the Ladies Lightweight Vest (https://www.scottevest.com/v3_store/Womens-Lightweight-Vest.shtml) to carry my camera, hand-warmers, my phone (which is essentially my mobile office and nearly glued to my body), tissues to wipe our noses, hand sanitizer to keep the pre-schooler germ free, and whatever else I needed to meet our needs while adventuring through the local parks and traveling around the globe.

I know for certain it’d get worn to the park just down the street, to & through the airports as we travel back and forth for my work while keeping my little love in a fantastic relationship with her daddy. (You should see us fill up the loading table & security each time!!- LOL!!!)

I would definitely go with buying the SeV Revolution Plus.

I would wear it for just about everything since I live in upstate New York and am a tech/travel junkie.
It’d be perfect for my trip to London/Dublin in February.

I’d LOVE to add a couple products to my ScotteVest wardrobe. The word wardrobe is stretching it a little. I just ordered (and have yet to receive) an SeV Tropical Jacket/Vest so if I was lucky enough to win the gift certificate I’d purchase some cargo pants, a Q zip, a Performance Polo and a couple pairs of the new travel boxers. Love SeV, thanks for the contest!

    11/26/2010 at 10:47 pm

I’ve had my eye on the Essential Travel Jacket and the sports coat. What I put in it? Basically I’d ditch by messenger bag and carry:
    Nexus One + Headphones
    Sunglasses
    Chapstick, eye drops, hand sanitizer
    keys, wallet
    USB key/phone charger
    Moleskine notebook and fountain pen
    and my tablet

The sportscoat would be especially great at conferences. I can have my whole my stuff but not have to carry a bag in the crowd.

  17. Brian Hollar

    11/26/2010 at 10:50 pm

If I win, I would purchase the Sport Coat and use it to carry my IPad, iPhone, Kindle, camera, keys, paper, pencil, wallet, hand sanitizer, etc. This would be a portable office for me and I would enjoy using it for both daily use and for travel. This would be a particularly nice piece for attending academic conferences and various seminars and symposiums here in the DC area.

    11/26/2010 at 10:54 pm

I would get the SeV Evolution Plus jacket for a winter coat and carry my iPod, Droid Incredible, earbuds, earmuffs, gloves, USB flash drive, keys, sunglasses, lip balm, foldable shopping bag, medication, pen, small notebook, and for trips a bottle of water, snacks and a magazine.

    11/26/2010 at 11:06 pm

I would buy a fully loaded combo, the Ultimate Cargo Pants, and a Cotton Hoodie. Now for what I would load them up with… well what wouldn’t I put in them and what could I pull off is the real question?! Who ever said one gadget is best ;)How about my N900 Tablet, Kindle, MP3 player, headphones, bluetooth headset, USB stick, notepad and pen (yeah I still used paper and pen), pocket change and keys (away from my gadgets), wallet, misc. kids items, probably get stuck with some of the wife’s gadgets, camera, extra memory cards, MiFi, extra batteries, USB charger, and maybe a snack for later since I never have time for lunch, the GPS when the car is parked (had my stolen so best to take that along). This is sounding better all the time….Unfortunately since I am Canadian looks like I am out of luck on the contest, wishful thinking… maybe Santa Claus :(

  20. Kenrick Mock

    11/26/2010 at 11:13 pm

I’d go for the Outback and carry my Nokia N900, either my Fujitsu tablet or Sony Vaio P, occasionally my OQO 02, wallet, keys, then miscellaneous sundries (lip balm, pen, snacks, bear spray…) Since I live in Alaska and it’s cold here most of the time I’d just wear it all over.

  21. redcleric

    11/26/2010 at 11:15 pm

I’d get the evolution and I’d carry all the crud I now carry in my Travel vest–not a repurposed fishing vest although i get that a lot. This includes cell phone, bottle of water, wallet, keys, charger for laptop, USB cord for charging phone and HP convertible laptop. Then there is the paperback and other odds and ends that I carry for particular errands or trips.

  35. Justin

    11/27/2010 at 1:10 am

    Definitely the SeV Revolution Plus.

This jacket would be perfect for my next trip to Haines, Alaska. It’s perfect for moderate hikes up Mt. Riley and Mt. Ripinsky. And it would keep my camera nice and dry from the misty air during the fall, since last time mine crapped out amidst a beautiful cloud-filled day. Plus, it would eliminate the need for the usual assault pack, with poncho, compass, maps, and of course… the mighty bear repellent. Okay, so I don’t carry bear repellent, but they always say I should, hiking alone. I don’t like wasting space. But I wouldn’t have to worry about that with the Revolution Plus! Plus, it’s perfect for jumping on a fishing boat for a nice halibut hunt. No more misplaced bags. Just a jacket even MacGyver would endorse.

  36. Andrew Burke

    11/27/2010 at 1:17 am

  44. Mickey Segal

    11/27/2010 at 3:22 am

I’d get the Outback Jacket (https://www.scottevest.com/v3_store/Outback-Jacket.shtml). Having been an early proponent in 2005 of wearing slates (see version 1.0 at https://robbushway.blogspot.com/2005/10/photos-of-tablet-pc-in-sport-jacket.html and https://www.segal.org/tablet/photo/) I still carry my Motion LS800 in my version 2.0 sport jacket. But there are times I need something more casual and the Outback Jacket looks about right.

For now I’d put the LS800 in the iPad pocket, but I’m ready to get a newer slate to replace the LS800. Ideally I’d like a form factor similar to the iPad but with both touch and pen, and of course a real operating system and the ability to dock it and use it like a real computer at my desk.

  45. Seneca G.

It’s funny you mention this. While I was black Friday shopping at 3am, I was thinking that I wish I had a QZip shirt. Long sleeves for the cold outside, but nice and comfortable for the hot inside. I was getting dizzy with the huge temp swings as we went from store to store!

    11/27/2010 at 5:32 pm

I would get the ‘Expedition Jacket’ to give my husband gift. He travels a lot for business meeting or presentation. So I guess he will wearing most of the time when he is traveling or going out. When going out he can avoid carrying backpack by having laptop, 2 Cell phone (one business &one personal), GPS, credit cards, Camera, Handycam.

  71. Tristan Webb

    11/27/2010 at 6:43 pm

    1) I think the ‘Expedition Jacket’ looks really nice. It’s a tough call between that and the ‘Carry-On Coat’ though. I think I would go with the ‘Carry-On Coat’ with the certificate in the end. Both have loads of pockets, with the coat looking like it has a the jacket beat out on total capacity. The wardrobe pockets look amazing! On one hand the Expedition looks nice and sporty, while the Carry-On has that classic trench look.

    2) Assuming I bought the Carry-On and was going through airport security I would carry these items: My passport and drivers license in the travel documents folder. Headphone connected to the PAN; My HTC Desire in the cellphone pocket; A few magazines in the magazine pocket (probably a Wired or New Scientist); My toothbrush, etc. in the approved liquids pouch, along with a bottle of ink; A fountain pen in one pocket (drained so it won’t leak in flight), and a pencil in the other; Keys in their own pocket; Water bottle in its own pocket; 3-4 shirts with two ties in the wardrobe pockets; I’d put a Samsung Galaxy tablet in the iPad pocket, along with a Moleskine blank notebook; Sonly Alpha Camera in the digicam pocket (if it would fit, but what DOESN’T fit in this coat?); Then shades if I’m going someplace sunny;

  72. Ramasamy

There are so many choices to choose from, so I would probably end up adding to the gift certificate and purchasing more. I really like the look of the new XAE Leather Jacket, and for those nights on the beat the SeV Revolution Plus would be my first choice. I also wouldn’t mind going the opposite end of the scale with a Tropical Jacket/Vest. Then a TEC shirt for inner layering or even a Performance T-shirt underneath in the cold! And down below the Ultimate Cargo Pants and SeV Travel Boxers. A whole wardrobe on one website! SeV the best.

I’m having a hard time figuring out the best combo of things to get for ~$150. However, the primary items I’d get are the TEC Hat and Ultimate Hoodie Microfleece. I’d store some change and a SwissCard in the hat and pens, notepad, ipod, water bottle, sunglasses, and cellphone in the hoodie. Once I know how I’d wear it I might also move some of my multi-tools and chapstick from my pants into the hoodie.

I would love a few of their items my first choice would be the Pack Windbreaker in the color Cobalt
    https://www.scottevest.com/v3_store/nylon-windbreaker-packable-jacket.shtml

In the 17 different pockets I would carry:

    Clip on sunglasses
    cell phone
    chap stick
    money and Id
    vial of my favorite perfume
a few individually wrapped packets of wet ones & hand sanitizer wipes
trial size bottle of pain reliever
    pack of breath freshener mints
    house key
    Kleenex
    couple of band aides
a few packets of instant drink mix
small fold-able cup to mix drink packet in when thirsty
that leaves 4 pockets for items I purchase along the way or last minute items I might have forgotten

Thank you so very much for giving me a chance to be a winner
Thank you for all your time, effort and hard work

I would get the XAE – 10th Anniversary Edition Leather Jacket

I’d fill the pockets my Droid 2, Ipod touch 2nd gen, Sony retractable headphones, and I would include the HP Slate 500 in the pad pocket (provided it ever ships) so I can walk thru NY with ease on my way to life drawing classes without any bags. And in lack of the HP Slate, I can fit in my LS800 tablet or my Ipad. And the pen pockets would be filled with Wacom & Ntriq digitizer pens, and capacitive pens for the Ipad.

I’ve been living in the Amazon Jungle of Peru for the last 2 years filming and making videos for a non-profit in very remote jungle tribes. I do a fair bit of traveling and could really use the Tropical Jacket / Vest as I’m frequently in airports and usually have tons of electronic gear (cameras, batteries, lights, portable solar panels, etc.) that I’m hauling around that I’d like to be able to hide, especially because I end up in some very dangerous and poor areas. I’m back in the States but am hoping to return to Peru in February, and would love to return with this seemingly incredibly well designed jacket and the cotton t-shirt!

I’d put these things in the jacket: my iPhone, my canon still camera, my canon video camera, extra batteries for both of those, a 24 Watt solar panel, possibly my 12 Watt panel too with the necessary cords, extra pair of underwear and socks, sunglasses with case, sunscreen, my multitool, chapstick, local currency and change, my iPod with the headphones integrated in the jacket conduit, wallet, water purification tablets, water bottle, and drink mix. Hopefully they all would fit!

If I won a gift certificate I would probably go for one of th SeV Revolution jackets. But I’d also definitely have to get on of the hoodies…either one of the cotton ones or the ultimiate hoodie microfleece.

Then I would have to dig out all my cool electronics that have been left idling most of the time because they are a pain to carry all the time…the usual would be obvious: cell, watch, pocket knife and such but also my kindle and other bigger less usual “pocketable” stuff. Would be nice.

    11/28/2010 at 2:08 pm

I would love to one of these. Hard to decide, but the revolution plus looks real nice. Otherwise, I would use the GC to combine a couple items, like the vest plus tropical jacket.

I have to say, before my iphone, I had a few more redundant items that would’ve required carrying. Still, if I had a SeV- I would carry my iphone, try to fit my lenovo tablet, chargers for laptop & iphone..sunglasses, batteries, pocket knife, wallet, extra earphones..hmm..so many more things depending on purpose of my trip.

    Good luck everyone!

    11/28/2010 at 3:18 pm

Being a legally blind (low vision) person, I don’t have the luxury of driving a car
and stowing things there. I have to carry everything I need with me. I would
choose the carry on coat as it appears to have the highest carrying capacity.
The carry on coat is also waterproof.

I would put in the following items:
    – sunglasses
    – monthly city bus pass
    – commuter bus to Boston schedule
    – cell phone
    – magnifying glass
    – monocular telescope
    – stylus
    – ball pen
    – wallet
    – checkbook
    – coin holder
    – house keychain
    – audio book player for books for the blind
    – headphones
    – tissue paper
    – cap
    – balaclava
    – gloves
    – water bottle
    – UMPC
    – flashlight (it gets dark early now)
    – cellular modem
    – GPS
    – cough drops
    – granola bars

I’d put the gift certificate toward the Carry-on Coat, which would not only have obvious benefits for air travel but would greatly reduce the need to carry a briefcase to work. Probable contents include my smartphone, tablet pc, earphones, pens, client files, keys, eyeglasses, wallet/ID… and when travelling further, an extra change of clothes.

I would love to have the Se V Carry on coat. I would give it to my son who works in the Jungle and jungle towns of the Amazon. When he visits home and I take him back to the airport he always has too much luggage for the free international allowance. He always has to pay extra for the equipment and supplies he takes. The last time he went back he was trying to carry so much stuff I thought that he certainly couldn’t run for a gate change. because of the weight, even if he had to. Last night my sister who was visiting here for Thanksgiving told us about the jacket and we google searched it. My son was up half of last night looking to see if he could find one that he could afford to wear back. I travel too internationally and hope to get one for me too, but, my son needs one more. I’m not surprised that Delta wouldn’t let Scottevest advertise since they want the extra revenue.

He could carry his phones (one for the US and one for Peru, his camera, sunglasses, ipod, a change of clothes if his luggage gets lost on the way, His power cords for his computer, passport, book to read and pictures of his family.

    11/28/2010 at 8:24 pm

Well, I think I’d pick the new Revolution Plus and maybe the Troipcal Jacket/Vest and wear them every day for work at school. It would pack my phone, player, and all that other stuff you may need as IT technician (besides teaching stuff): screwdrivers and other tools for repairing the occasional broken computer/screen, usb/serial adapter, LAN and USB cables, external harddrive, remote presenter and *maybe* a new tablet I have yet to buy. Different pens and board markers would fit in as well as my teaching calendar and (if needed) the power adapter to my Tablet PC (wich itself probably would be a tad to big to be stuffed, too). Essencially: no bag anymore!!!

Without hesitation the classic travel vest for ladies is THE one I would buy first. As a mom of two young ones I’ve already got my hands full. Having my own scottevest to replace all diaper bags and purses is the only way to stay sane. I’ve already borrowed a friends for a week and it held: my iPhone, routed the ear buds, diaper change pad and emergency baggies in the back pocket,
