At the Consumer Electronics Show, Lenovo has taken the wraps off the LePad tablet, an Android 2.2-based slate with a 10.1-inch display and weighing in at less than two pounds. The half-inch thick tablet will be available in a variety of different colors: scarlet, white, and brown and black textured leather. In Android mode, the LePad tablet will be powered by an Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. The LePad tablet will run Android with Lenovo’s customizations to the operating system known as LeOS.

However, for those who need extended productivity features, docking the 10.1-inch Android slate display into the clamshell case with integrated keyboard will power up the complete Windows 7 desktop OS experience. Once docked with the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, the device will be powered by an Intel CULV processor. The Intel Core i5 base clocks in at 1.2 GHz.

The slate alone is expected to cost $520 and the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid base will retail for $1,300. The device will initially be released in Q1 2011 in China.

The slate will have a front-facing camera for video chat, along with wireless integration to support WCDMA and EVDO connections. The 10.1-inch HD display supports a resolution of 1280 X 800. In slate mode, the device will either carry 16 or 32 GB of internal memory while the U1 Hybrid dock will augment Windows 7’s storage to 320 GB HDD. 1 GB RAM (slate mode) and 2 GB RAM (notebook mode), WiFi, and Bluetooth are also on-board.

I wonder how much data sharing is possible between the two OS’s… Like is there space on the slate side that can be accessible/read by the windows 7 dock?
