The HTC EVO Shift 4G has gone official on Sprint’s Now Network after numerous leaks leading up to the carrier’s third 4G Android smartphone announcement at CES 2011. The device utilizes a more compact form factor complete with landscape-oriented keyboard slider and comes with HTC Sense, the manufacturer’s proprietary UI layer, on top of Android 2.2. The device has a smaller camera with a 5-megapixel resolution as compared to the 8-megapixel shooter on the larger 4.3-inch HTC EVO 4G, along with the ability to record 720p video. The display on the HTC EVO Shift 4G is 3.6-inch with multitouch support.

Like the HTC EVO 4G, the EVO Shift 4G can be used as a mobile hotspot, allowing up to eight devices to share Sprint’s WiMax 4G connection. Like the competing HTC T-Mobile G2, this device will also utilize an 800 MHz CPU.
