Falling somewhere between “we all knew it was coming” and “we better announce this before we announce our new Tablets so we can sell a few” Samsung has officially announced the WiFi only version of the Galaxy Tab. The carrier supported versions have obviously been a hit so far and it looks like there were quite a few eager customers out there willing to spring for a contract in order to run their fingers over the Galaxy Tab’s touch surface.
No we’ll see how many will spring for a WiFi only version with promised new Samsung Tablets just around the corner. Basically this is the same device minus the 3G radios that we’ve come to know and love. There’s no word officially on the price point or outlets yet but the press release says we’ll see it in the US in Q1 2011.
Oh, and by the way, keep in mind that we’ve all heard that Honeycomb (Android 3.0) is going to need some Dual Core action to run, so don’t catch yourself dreaming about buying one of these and upgrading from 2.2 to 3.0.
