Kinect is the Fastest Selling Gadget Ever…Move Over iPad

on

Guinness World Records has deemed the Microsoft Kinect the fastest selling gadget of all time. The Kinect launched on November 4 and Microsoft sold 8 million in the following 60 days. That’s an average of 133,333 units PER DAY.

Last year,  the iPad held the crown as the fastest selling gadget of all time when it was introduced. Since its introduction, almost 15 million units of the Apple tablet have been sold, but the Kinect is moving at a faster pace.

“The sales figures here speak for themselves,” said Gaz Deaves, Gaming Editor for Guinness World Records. “According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.”

The Kinect packs a lot of technology for $149 and will likely forever change how we game in the living room. Microsoft deserves a lot more applause for getting this device to market than it’s gotten so far. Just wait until the Kinect comes to Windows and things are going to get really crazy.
