HTC Thunderbolt Now Available for Order on Verizon Website
Welcome 4G LTE to a smartphone, and hello HTC Thunderbolt! Verizon Wireless has finally made the Thunderbolt available for online order to eager Android users who are awaiting to taste 4G LTE download speeds. The device can be seen as a rival to the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint’s network, and features many of the same basics, including kickstand, 4G support (the EVO 4G uses Sprint’s WiMax network), mobile tethering (via optional plan), unlimited data, and large 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen. The Thunderbolt will utilize a newer version of Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU and will be the first 4G LTE smartphone on the carrier’s network.
I’ve written about some of the reasons why I am ending my relationship with AT&T in order to join what Verizon Wireless is touting as the nation’s most advanced and fastest 4G network.
For now, pricing the the Thunderbolt is $250 for a 2-year contract, $320 for a 1-year contract, and $600 without any contract. As usual, the carrier is requiring a data plan with this device ($30 for unlimited 4G data) in addition to a voice plan. Users may also add on a texting or messaging plan as well if they need that.
Verizon also has additional photos and videos on its website, so click on over if you want to learn more about the phone or if you’re ready to make the purchase! If you’re holding out, you can also purchase this phone at Verizon Wireless retail stores and retail partners like Best Buy.
