How To Watch Major League Baseball on iPad or iPhone (free Month)

Published

on

For the first month of the season Major League Baseball is providing access to their streaming baseball games via the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. The MLB At Bat 11 iPad app is one of the three best sports apps available for watching games on the go. We wrote a full review with video at Notebooks.com as part of our iPad App of the Week series. Baseball fans who own an iPad should not be without it.

There is also a version for many other devices including the iPhone, Android phones, and the Blackberry. The app is $14.99 on all platforms. To get the free month you have to buy the app on an iOS device though.

Until the end of April you can watch your favorite teams on the MLB At Bat app. The video streaming service normally costs $99.99/year for the basic subscription or $119.99 to add the ability to DVR the games, choose between home or away broadcasts, and watch picture-in-picture games of more than one broadcast. Your other option is to pay $24.99 or $19.99 per month respectively.

Here is the iPad App of the Week video review of the app:

By the way, the other two sports apps that excellent are this year’s NCAA March Madness on Demand, which lets you watch the tournament games live on your iPad, and MLS 2011 MatchDay which lets you watch soccer live on your iPad. If the television networks would just make an app like the March Madness app and stream their network video feed, they could sell it for $20 and charge a $5/month subscription fee and I’d pay it. But then again, the Time Warner Cable app is running into licensing problems, so there coud be road bumps.

It is a bummer than one has to pay 15$ to BUY the app though, just to watch on an ipad for the month. Free month seems more like a “15$ month”
