At long last, AT&T and Motorola have begun to roll out the much anticipated Motorola Atrix 4G update that brings HSUPA speeds and improvements to Skype, two things that Atrix owners have been waiting for.

We had thought that the update might roll out back at the end of April but today is the day and Motorola officially announced it on Twitter a couple of hours ago. The update is going to be rolling out in phases so there is a chance that you might not see the update today.

There is a way to manually check to see if the update is available for you. Follow these instructions on your Atrix 4G:

  1. Select the Settings icon in the main menu.
  2. Select “About phone”.
  3. Select “System updates”.
  4. Select “Download”.
  5. After the software is downloaded, select “Install”.
  6. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
  7. Your phone is now updated with v4.1.83 software.

If it’s available, it should prompt you. You might also want to try this manual installation method, a method that seemed to work for a few people but not for the masses.
