Research firm research2guidence is reporting that if  Google’s Android Market keeps growing at the rate its currently at, it will likely outgrow Apple’s App Store by August of this year.

The report comes just about a week after Distimo, an app store analytics company, claimed that the App Store would outpace Apple’s by July. Research2guidence believes that the Android Market is on pace to reach 425,000 applications by August and if it does that, it will overtake the App Store in size.

Last month, Apple apparently added 11,000 applications while the Android Market boasted 28,000 new applications over the course of April. And while the App Store has shown signs of slowing down, the Android Market looks to be growing at an extremely fast pace.

Google’s Android Market was launched back in October of 2008 while Apple launched its App Store in July of the same year. The Android Market got off to a notoriously slow start but it appears that over the course of the last few years, the tides are beginning to turn.

This should certainly be exciting news for Google and fans of Android but it’s interesting to note that research2guidence believes that the growth of the Android Market will not serve developers well. In fact, they believe it’s going to have a negative impact on developers and the amount of revenue they can bring in.
