CNBC Releases Honeycomb App with Real-Time Stock Updates
NBC Universal has released a CNBC app designed for Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet OS that delivers real-time stock updates. The app has a lot of polish and is executed well. What sets the CNBC Android 3.0 app apart from competing finance app in the category is the ability to get up-to-date, real-time market information without the standard 15- or 20-minute delay by apps and widgets from Google or Yahoo. There is even a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen to keep you constantly updated. You can pull in videos, charts, and other news from CNBC as well.
While there has generally been a lack of good Android 3.0 Honeycomb apps, the CNBC app does an excellent job in leveraging the tablet’s large screen for a great user experience. For those who bought the Motorola Xoom from Verizon Wireless and are paying for your mobile broadband connection, having real-time stock updates anywhere at anytime is a good way to maximize the value of your data plan, especially if you’re a trader or interested in the financial markets.
