Motion Computing CL900 Tablet PC Goes on Sale

Published

on

Motion Computing is now taking orders for the CL900 Tablet PC and expects to begin shipping units out to customers within four weeks. The 10.1″ slate runs Windows 7 and has some durability features, including Gorilla Glass.

We first saw the Motion Computing CL900 back at CES 2011. The device looked pretty solid, but it is difficult to get a sense of what a device is like in the real world during a press event. Fortunately, Motion Computing has put GottaBeMobile at the top of the list for a review unit, which means we’ll be able to put it through its paces.

Windows tablets might not be in vogue with consumers, but there are a lot of businesses out there that need mobile solutions that run on Windows. With a claimed battery life of eight hours, the CL900 is worth a close look.

I will be looking forward to a good in-depth review and inkshow video on this one, as a 2lb Windows tablet with ink and handwriting recognition would be a real asset to my work life.

The 62gb maximum ssd size is a bit of a concern right now, but the real questions are performance, inking quality and battery life.

Could you investigate in you review whether the harddisk is user-replaceable, and what the options for larger harddisks in this form-factor are?

There is an SD card slot so if you need to add some extra memory they sell 32GB cards for pretty cheap nowadays.
