ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Shortages in North America to Ease in ‘Coming Weeks’

It’s no secret that the Honeycomb-powered ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is hard to find in the United States. It’s sold out virtually everywhere. Well, if you’ve been hankering for one, you should know that ASUS isn’t just sitting around twiddling its thumbs. In fact, in a statement, the company has made it known that the devices should be easier to find in the coming weeks due to increased production.

The Eee Pad Transformer was launched on April 17th in the U.S. Since then, it’s been almost impossible to find. At first, there was speculation that the shortage was due to a hardware shortage and that the device would not become widely available until mid-June.

ASUS soon cleared that up saying that the shortages were due to high demand and not hardware and that it would be ramping up production in both May and June with 100,000 and 200,000 units being produced respectively.

The company has apparently made good on its word as their statement today indicates that they are, in fact, increasing production and hope to satisfy demand soon:

We are ramping production every week to address the supply concerns, including almost daily air shipments into North America. We expect the supply line to improve significantly over the coming weeks.

 

So, if you’ve been in love with the Eee Pad Transformer but haven’t been able to find one, check back in a couple of weeks and things should be a little easier. The Android 3.1 Honeycomb update should be dropping for the device around then too.
