HP Pre 3 Hitting AT&T and Verizon in July with Skype Integration?

Published

on

While all the hoopla this summer has been about the iPhone 5, HTC EVO 3D, the Motorola Droid Bionic, the HTC Sensation 4G, and others, there is another phone that is going to be headed our way with an operating system not called iOS or Android. Or Windows Phone 7 for that matter. Yes, you may recall HP’s Pre 3, announced back in February with the HP TouchPad. Well, it seems that it will be arriving in the U.S. next month on Verizon and AT&T.

HP Pre 3

PreCentral has scored a series of leaks that starts with this. The Pre 3 will apparently be rocking webOS 2.2. What that means is that it’s like to have full Skype Synergy integration. That’s huge for those that use the chat service and are looking forward to using the Pre 3’s front facing camera for video chatting purposes.

Next, and just as juicy, are some specifics in regards to a release. It appears that the Pre 3 might end up on Verizon toward the latter half of July with July 21st surfacing as a possible release date. It also will apparently hit AT&T however a specific date with Ma Bell remains unknown although a release around the same time as Verizon seems likely.

So, there you have it. HP’s flagship phone will likely be hitting the United States next month (and at the beginning of July in the UK apparently) and it’s likely going to be headed to two of the U.S. biggest service providers.

Who’s excited to get their hands on a Palm, ahem, HP Pre 3?

Sprint will lose several contracts over this. Those of us on Sprint with the pre and pixi will want the new phone and will leave to get it. For Sprint to not pick it up is crazy as they had the pre first and lots of us still have them.

Will the Pre 3 be a 4G phone? It’s really nice to be able to stream data while on voice calls which I’m sure is not possible on 3G I’m pretty sure.

I’ another customer with a Sprint Pre and Pixi 1 generation.  The hardware is garbage but the OS is fantastic.  I am at a point I need to replace my Pre but can’t wait much longer and may end up going to another service provider or a Android OS device.

My original Pre just died and had to pick up an EVO 3D. I miss WebOS.

I tried the droid os and it is garbage.  Webos is just faster, less steps needed, and the multitasking blows droids away.  Turned the droid back to Verizon after 4 days and 3 freeze ups.  Got the Palm Pre 2 and love this thing.  The speed is awesome and with flash can now open many more emails and videos.  I think the HP Pre 3 will be fantastic with the 1.4ghz processor.  Nothing else is close.  Bigger screen and keyboard too.  Really glad to hear Verizon will have.  Think I’ll go down to the Verizon store and start bugging them.  All they push is Android and Apple.  Both inferior OS’s.  Hope HP puts some marketing together as Palm just didn’t have their marketing together.
