Motorola Triumph Release Date Confirmed to Be July 19th

Published

on

While Best Buy began offering pre-orders for Virgin Mobile’s highly anticipated Motorola Triumph last week, we were still unclear as to when the phone would actually arrive. Well, it turns out, that very same pre-order has confirmed that rumored July 19th release date which means you can go ahead and circle it on the calender.

Motorola Triumph

Now, keep in mind, Motorola and Virgin haven’t announced this so it’s still quote unquote unconfirmed but rest assured, the 19th is the day that this thing is going to be arriving folks.

The Triumph is looking like a solid offering from Virgin featuring  a  4.1″ display (800×480 WVGA), 5MP back-facing camera and VGA front-facing camera, 720p playback and capture, 1400 mAh battery, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of on-board storage, Android 2.2 Froyo, and a form factor that checks in at .4 inches at its thinnest point.

However, the $300 price point is probably going to push a few people away. Keep in mind though, that price comes without the need for a contract so if you’re not into that sort of thing, the Triumph is definitely something to take a look at.

True the Optimus is good but this one looks to be better. And at the same per month charge it’s a keeper.

Eh I have Optimus and returning tomorrow.doesn’t run all android market apps, only about half due to hardware not fast enough. not a bad phone but can’t even run AIR or Flash! The triumph can though! :)

I’ll give you not being able to run flash (I have no idea what air is), but not being able to run half of all android apps. Aren’t you exaggerated just a little too much. Doesn’t matter though, I stand by my comments about the optimus v being a great phone but I’m getting the triumph. I’ve already pre ordered it from bestbuy.

Do you offer an unlimited text/web/data/IM plan for $25 a month, and at least 300 anytime minutes, no roaming charges across the US on the Sprint network?

Also to anyone that uses V mobile tell your friends about it, I have got at least 2 people to switch alone (one from verizon) and they have probably got 2 each to switch themselves, let’s put these slimeball cell companies with hidden fees and shitty customer service out of business or make them offer something better!

Very true. As long as people (suckers) keep running out and buying/paying for these high cost phones and plans these companies will continue to fleece the sheep. Consumers need to wake up.

I doubt you will see this, but if you are interested in this phone I would suggest activating a different phone on or before July 19th as Vigin Mobile is raising their rates, but all active members will be grandfathered in and will keep lower rate (say $25 plan) even when switching phones.

I want this phone but the whole reason tht ppl are switching to no contract…pay as u go is because u get more for ur money w/o all the hassles…and if they start hiking up the prices like all the other carriers ppl are quickly gonna be turned off….these phones are pre paid phones so the price should stay at a decent point….alot of low income ppl switch to pre-paid  because these other carriers are so expensive especially Verizon!!!!!

I can’t believe you are complaining at the price of this phone, seems like you have no idea what you are getting, besides the great beyond plans that vm offers with no contract, you are also getting very decent phones which if you check in verizon, sprint and tmobile, they are prices at over $400 dollars if you don’t sign a contract with them even the Sanyo Zio is $449 without a contract and you still have to pay from 60 to 90 dlls to receive what you are getting in vm.

You are right, when I saw 299.99 I was shocked I was expecting 500.00. You buy this thing off contract on a Major like Verizon and you would pay double that 599.99. Evo4g off contract is 450, Droid x 2 off contract 600.00, Atrix 4g off contract 400.00. 299.99 is a lot of bang for the buck. I will gladly pay the 300 dollars and 25-40 bucks a month for this bad boy. It is almost specked like the original Droid X just a minor downgrade in camera quality in regards of Mega Pixls. Im Sold maybe even sold 2x!!! Can’t wait

Virgin Mobile is pretty legit although I experience dropped calls from time to time and the 3G is pretty shaky. But I love their “no contract” and their affordable plans. But $300 for a phone that’s only a bigger screened version of the LG Optimus V WITHOUT a camera button is kinda pushing it. And from what I’ve seen it’s quite laggy compared to that of the LG Optimus V. For $300 they should’ve at least packed more SD card memory than 2GB. Come on now…

@chriskim:disqus there is a micro sd slot underneath the battery and i highly doubt this is going to be any slower then the optimus v the only thing I’m worried about is the battery it has a lower capacity than the v

      • algierssolja

        07/05/2011 at 8:14 am

Slower than the Optimus V? LOL this thing is much faster than the Optimus V. This is in the Class of last years super phones. The Optimus V is last years entry phones.

it’s $300 off contract. They’re taking a loss on each phone no doubt.

        07/01/2011 at 6:51 pm

i doubt they are taking a hit on pricing the phone at $300 with the up in coming tech thats about to hit the cell phone market like 3d no glasses cellphones with 3d pik takin capabilities its pretty reasonably priced considering the as of now late technology that they’re offering on the triumph.

        • Anonymous

          07/01/2011 at 6:56 pm

Couldn’t disagree with you more. 1 year old technology is not late technology.

          07/03/2011 at 3:41 am

@asims1988:disqus  It might still be fairly new technology but in the scale of phone manufacturing it’s mid range now, which means it should be priced like a mid range phone. Even though it still performs very well and isn’t obsolete there are much nicer phones out occupying the high end price bracket.

By all right this phone is like the new entry level phone. 1 year old is ancient in technology. This is single core. Thier are like 10 dual core phones out now. Single core phones are old news might as well sell them while they still can. In a few months dual core will be old they will be selling the Kal-El quad core phones which will make dual core the new entry level phone.

You can cry all you want about “last year’s tech” but what it cones down to is it’s still just a phone. If you want all the latest bells and whistles you are going to pay for it out the butt. As for me I have much better places to put my money than into the latest keep up with the Joneses cell phones at outrageous monthly prices. This phone is more than adequate.

What the ‘ell are you talking about same as optimus excpet a bigger screen? Its a REAL andriod with tons more to offer and that’s not sd memory, that’s built in 2gb. And from what you’ve seen? The phone isn’t realeased yet and all of the press videos I’ve seen this the real deal. Go vm and go motorola!

        07/19/2011 at 5:56 am

This is an optimus except witha bigger screen and front facing camera. It still runs android 2.2 froyo which is still good but in a couple of months, when another phone comes out the triumph will drop. Its a better deal to get the optimus, wait and get a bad ass phone later on…

Also have to note the 1.6Ghz processor speed, the 5.2 Mega pixle 720p HD video camera at front face 0.3 mp vga camera that you can plug into your flat screen… its going to be a great phone. some what similar to the g2x for tmobile  and the flash..

@chriskim.  The beauty of this device that it has so few buttons….It decreases the possibility of hardware button failures.  You can create a shortcut…on the homescreen to both the Camera and the CamCorder….problem solved.

Hey if you don’t like easy access to your camera app and a two stage button to focus then take pictures, then by all means. Maybe you’d like a special app to control volume too instead of those horrible volume buttons on the side of your phone.

          07/09/2011 at 2:28 pm

One of the reasons you have less buttons is to cut costs. I really don’t think the lack of camera buttons will be a big problem.

I agree with Vern.  I had the Intercept, and only realized how terrible it is once I “downgraded” to the Optimus.  Optimus is a MUCH, MUCH more satisfying phone.

        • Harley L

          07/07/2011 at 9:42 pm

Honestly, the Intercept was an ok mid-to-low end phone at the time. The better phone was/is the Optimus V. The main reason that I’d attribute to that is the fact that it has hardware graphics acceleration, which the Intercept lacks. Just my 2¢. I’m interested to see more about the Triumph’s hardware. I’ve got high hopes though for it to meet my expectations.

I think the Triumph is great. I’ll get one and then hover over xda-developer and sdx-developer forums waiting for the community to release at new spiffy kernel with hotspot built in. I’m sure it will be done for Christmas.

I’ve notice the screen looks kinda blue. It seems the ratio contrast is not great from what I see on some videos online unless the setting look like that. I wish the triumph would have had high ration contrast so you can see well defined black and white background.

    07/18/2011 at 5:06 am

Have the optimus, and I love it.  It was only $150 AND had a unlockable bootloader…my major tiff with the Triumph is that Virgin is trying to make it so you can’t apply a custom rom.  So i’m gonna wait until the price drops -$100 and someone gets a hack working; Would love to get CyanogenMod running on the Triumph…

  15. Xrainbomistress

    07/18/2011 at 3:01 pm

The optimus v is better than the triumph. Theres not much a difference. The optmus is smaller which is better. the triumph is like having a tablet in your pocket.
