Sprint Galaxy Tab Gingerbread Update Rolling Out July 5th

Published

on

It’s hard to even imagine being an owner of the original Samsung Galaxy Tab right now. Since it’s release we’ve seen several Android tablets hit the shelves with software vastly superior to the Froyo that the Galaxy Tab currently employs. Well, it looks like Samsung is finally read to bring the Galaxy Tab to the HTC Flyer’s level of software because a leaked document indicates that Gingerbread is arriving on July 5th.

Sprint Galaxy Tab

The document looks similar to the one that we saw for the HTC EVO 4G a short time ago so we’re pretty sure this is the real deal, folks. According to the update, the OTA update will begin on the July 5th and those that aren’t able to see it will be able to manually update.

As for upgrades, you’ll see HD Bluetooth and Android 2.3 Gingerbread at the very least. It has been a long, long wait for this update to arrive and it must be exciting for those of you who were able to hold onto this tablet.

Now that this is out in the open, it’s time to wonder about whether or not Honeycomb will ever arrive for Samsung’s 7-inch slate.

Yea for me! I love mine replaced a net-book with it. Its great for quick surfing and communications such as email and Facebook. I have traveled a few places with it and its small size was really nice for plane, airport, and room use. Not sure why it didn’t take off does pretty much does everything my Nexus One does but with a bigger screen and longer battery life.

It is GREAT to see Sprint provide this update.

I have been critical of both Samsung and Sprint over the slow release of various Android updates.   But it is fair to at least give them some props for this out.

Hope someone at Samsung AND Sprint are having happy “Ice Cream” thoughts these days too!   Wouldn’t that be a really SPECIAL surprise this Autumn!!!

I’m waiting for Verizon to release the update. Hopefully they’ll do it soon now that Sprint is.
