August Launch of Verizon Galaxy S II May Lack 4G LTE

Published

on

Based on Motorola’s conference call, Droid-Life is deducing that if the Sasmung-made Galaxy S II is launched in August, that device would lack 4G LTE. The reasoning behind this is due to Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha stating that the Droid Bionic launching in September would be the first phone in the world to feature both 4G LTE capabilities as well as a dual-core processor.

Given that the Samsung Galaxy S II also sports a dual-core processor and is widely believed to be coming in August beating out the launch of the Droid Bionic, that device would not have 4G LTE networking capabilities of Jha’s statement is accurate.

Recently, Verizon Wireless support had tweeted that the Samsung phone would have 4G, but later corrected itself to saying that it had intended the tweet to read that the Sasmung Galaxy Tab 10.1 would launch with 4G LTE network support, and not the Galaxy S II.

The carrier may launch the Galaxy S II as the Fascinate II, falling in line with the Fascinate/Galaxy S franchise on the network.

So for now, it looks like the Galaxy S II on Verizon Wireless would be a 3G device that would compete against the Motorola Droid X2. The Droid X2 has a higher resolution qHD display while the Galaxy S II’s WVGA resolution screen boasts more bright and vivid colors thanks to a Super AMOLED Plus screen technology as the major difference.

You shouldnt state something unless you have proof, this whole article is just one big assumption. Lame.

honestly Verizon would be stupid to not put 4G on that phone, it’s easily the best android phone and it’s gonna whoop the droid bionic in comparison. They would easily miss out on lot of consumers if such an amazing phone did not have 4G that’s like the iphone 5 coming out with 3G….

Actually, I would say Galaxy S II is more likely than iPhone 5 to come out with LTE. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if iPhone 5 were 3G, assuming that it’s released this fall  instead of iPhone 4S or some such.

They’re going to lose out on a ton of customers if they don’t make this 4g (like me). They’ve had plenty of time to make the required changes to LTE.

Please change the title of this article to read “Why I think the Verizon SGSII won’t have LTE”…while this site in general focuses on rumors and leaks, this one is a long shot. And you had me about ready to club a baby seal before I actually read the article.

No way the Moto CEO is going to say on a call “it will PROBABLY be the first dual core LTE phone”, especially when there’s no official announcement otherwise. You may turn out to be right (which I really hope isn’t the case) but don’t get us all upset for nothing.

Moto CEO also said the bionic would be out around summer solstice along with xoom lte update (that was June 21, FYI).  If he doesn’t know what’s going on in his own company, why would he know what Samsung is up to?

It makes perfect sense for this phone to not have LTE. It’s just like Capcom. You buy this version, then a couple months later…Now it comes with 4G! Buy this version! Smh. It’s all about the $$$$.

The Galaxy S II will have the ability to turn water into wine or beer….

That statement right there has just as much validity and support as this article we all just read.  I noticed the title has change from “WILL Lack 4G LTE” to “MAY Lack 4G LTE” but even that is a stretch to conclude.

    Next time, think, THEN type.

No LTE, no desire for the Galaxy.

Just as it was with the 1st “Galaxy S”, the GSII will probably come in several versions, different on each carrier.  AT&T and T-Mobile have 4g Galaxy S phones, Verizon does not.  A BLANKET statement about the GSII just doesn’t work.  It could have a QWERTY keyboard on 1 carrier WITH 4g, no QWERTY keyboard with 4g, or any combination… depending on the carrier.  I think it helps to look at the Carrier’s current version to see the trend.  Verizon has the Fascinate version of the Galaxy S.  It’s 3g.  Verizon already has a 4g Samsung phone, the Droid Charge.  Verizon has the Motorola Bionic coming out on 4g too.  Motorola released a dual core 3g phone before a dual core 4g phone.  The specs on the Samsung site ALREADY state HSPA+ , which all translates to ME that the AT&T version will be “4g”, but the Verizon version will not be.  I would think the Samsung 4g dual core phone offered on Verizon will eventually be the Droid Charge II…. Verizon likes sequels.  Just my guess
