AT&T Announces Three New 4G BlackBerry Smartphones

RIM is busy today and has dropped an avalanche of new devices upon the world finally making some of the devices we’ve seen leaked for months official. A few of those devices were made official by AT&T earlier today as the mobile carrier plans to offer the BlackBerry Torch 9810 starting in August and will offer the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Torch 9860 later on in the year. And guess what? All three devices will be of the 4G flavor meaning they will take advantage of AT&T’s soon to be obsolete HSPA+ network. So what exactly is in store for BlackBerry fanatics on Ma Bell? Let’s run down the devices, shall we?

The new 4G BlackBerry Torch 9810 is going to bring a 1.2GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with HD 720p video recording, 8GB of onboard storage space, a 3.2-inch touch display, and it will be powered by BlackBerry OS 7. Not a bad haul but those who are looking to snag hardware that will last over the next two years will probably want to look elsewhere.

Now, the other two phones, the Torch 9860 and the Bold 9900 , we’ve looked at extensively. The Bold 9900 is RIM’s thinnest phone yet and will bring an extremely nice spec base that includes NFC support. The Torch 9860 is going to arrive with a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB embedded memory, BlackBerry’s first all-touch design, and a bunch of other features that won’t make you droll but might perk your interest.

Again, August for the BlackBerry Torch 9810 and launches later in the year for the Bold 9900 and Torch 9860.
