The update brings video calling to Android 2.2 device from several manufacturers as well as bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Support for video calling on Android devices has been a long time coming, especially for owners of the HTC ThunderBolt who haven’t had still don’t have a real reason to use their front facing camera since launch. The statement “Support for video calling on Android devices has been a long time
coming, especially for owners of the HTC ThunderBolt who haven’t had a
real reason to use their front facing camera since launch.” is MISLEADING!!! Those who are on stock Froyo on Thunderbolt CANNOT use the front camera with this new version of Skype! I am the Thunderbolt owner, downloaded and tested this Skype version earlier today – IT ONLY WORKS WITH THE BACK CAMERA!!! It explicitly states in the settings – “back camera only”. I made a test call and confirm it – front camera DOES NOT work with this version of Skype for the stock Froyo version on Thunderbolt! How pathetic is that!

“you are limited to the back camera only” WTF!!! You have got to be kidding. Seriously? How inept do you have to be to think this is what customers have been asking for? It has to be someone’s idea of a spiteful joke.

Absolutely agree that it is a spiteful joke that the front facing camera does not work on Android 2.2 devices such as my Droid Charge.

Video calls supported on Htc Desire??? I have a rooted Desire running Villian Rom (Android 2.35) and do not get the video call option in the Skype app. It is not there in the settings either. Are you telling me if I downgraded my phone to Android 2.2 (Froyo)  video calls on Skype will work? Someone is seriously extracting the urine.
