Motorola Droid Bionic Finally Caught on Video

Published

on

With the Motorola Droid Bionic launch just a few short weeks away on Verizon, the anticipation is mounting. What is the exact release date? What is the official pricing? What are the official specifications? We have theories, but nothing is official yet. And while we have those theories and a ton of evidence to back them up, before today, we hadn’t yet had a clear cut video of the Droid Bionic in action.

Yes, Phandroid has managed to procure a video of the Droid Bionic in action and it shows off a couple of things that are going to get you excited. First, the bootloader. We see that the usual dual-core logo and then we see that red eye that we saw pop up on video awhile back.

Droid Bionic Red Eye

We also get a quick look at the new version of MotoBlur that will be coming with the 4G LTE smartphone and we also get a taste of Verizon’s next-generation network’s speeds. We’ve already seen how blistering they can be on the Droid Bionic so this is just reaffirmation.

So, it’s nice to finally see the device in the wild, on video, and so I’m curious.

What do you guys think of it all?

Stupid Verizon/Motorola… would it really kill you to tell us when it will be out and how much? How about just one of those points? Sure you continue to build up anticipation, but you’re also pissing off consumers and driving them to Samsung and HTC’s camp.

I totally agree… I have been waiting for the bionic since January,.. I think if it takes this long to “fix” the phone,.. Its got problems…. and frankly I am getting tired of Motorola’s phone issues, lockups, freezes, and other glitches.

The Samsung Galaxy S II is now on the top of my list.Good-going you marketing idiots….

But Verizon is not selling Samsung Galaxy S II.

No one can sell the Galaxy S II anymore… a ruling in the Hague (the highest court in the world) banned shipment of the phone to the US… Since it looks so much like the iPhone, Apple decided take it to court and get it banned… So its gonna be the Bionic or bust (which is any HTC phone…) And if you compare this video to the one from January, I would have to argue in favor of the 9-month waiting period Motorola put us through

The initial lag was pretty bad esp the home screen coming up with the shortcut icons and the Applications menu .
Apart from that I don’t see it any faster than Photon 4G though I see that the Motoblur on this is different and may be slightly better. Photon gives better 4G speeds when you are in Sprints 4G coverage area, which is spotty. This was a short video and you dont get to see the full potential until you get one and pay with it , but all I gotta say at this point is It better be worth the 8 month wait and the hype !!

Lol umm.. you DO realize that it had only one bar of service in this video right? Do you know how fast speeds are when an LTE connection is stronger than that? Sprint’s 4G is a joke compared to this.

      Ever see this?

https://phandroid.com/2011/08/16/one-more-pic-of-the-droid-bionic-for-good-measure-4g-speeds-still-look-amazing/So yeah.. Verizon 4G LTE UPLOAD speeds are what Sprint’s 4G WiMax DOWNLOAD speeds are. To summarize it in a single word: Shame.

This gut had no service. Look up on YouTube for a sprint bs Verizon speed test and Verizon kills sprint. Verizon gets up to 23 down.

Upload and download speeds TOTALLY depend on the Server selected for the test.  I can do the test with 1 server and get 4mbps down, switch to a different server and get 18mbps down.

I heard a rumor there might be a Sept 1st release and there is a slot for a SIM card so it can do global roaming.

All Verizon’s 4G LTE technology is based on SIM cards, you cannot get it without, we have a corporate account with them which I administer.

Not all of the 4G LTE devices are Globally supported, even with the sim (unless unlocked)

just release it already, not that Motorola probably cares too much if Goog buys them.

Too much hype/wait/rumors for me. I got a Charge 3 weeks ago and love it! Super fast with 4G! I can last a whole day on a charge and I am in a 4 G area! Touchwiz isn’t that bad. Motorola blew it with me. Samsung is the way to go.

Droid bionic has taken Motorola forever to come out with this phone, its not that much better then any other phone that currently came out so I don’t see why ppl even care about this phone… In another 4 months there’s gonna be a phone that blows this one out of the water… Its a never ending cycle… :p

Didn’t notice a netflix application on that phone. That’s disapointing.

Funny how you can’t please everyone. Most people complain of bloatware. I don’t want anything pre-installed that I can get from the market for free. This includes Netflix!

This is going to be similar to the original droid when it was released.  I’ll wait until the equivalent of the droid x is released which will probably be within a couple of months.

Why not have your cake & eat it too? Buy the Bionic, del it for what you paid for it on Craigslist? Many people want three phone without the contract, and don’t want to pay non-contract prices, even if slightly used. I just sold my Droid 2 for $180. I paid $200 & had it since it 1st came out. I bought the Droid 2 with the money I sold my Droid 1 for ($180). I plan on selling my Droid X for $200, and won’t have a problem doing so, being I just got a replacement due to a defect!

Excuse the typos…sell, not del, & the, not three…

Buy the Bionic?  300 dollars with the new contract discount?  Too rich for my blood right now.  Especially when a faster, thinner, and lighter phone is always on the horizon.  Plus, the delay and hardware issues scare me.

i think all of u have no idea what ur talking about. the bionic wasnt initially released because of a processor problem. u know what they did to rectify the problem??? added another processor. The only brand that has dual core processors is motorola if u didnt know lol.  then they held out on releasing it to scrap the prototype for a new 4g model. motorola is the way to go and if ur too impatient to wait for possibly the best phone ever to come out, i have no gripe with u because that just means when dumbasses such as yourself backout, that leaves more inventory for me to ensure i get one so. . . . .thanx :)

the one they showed at CES in january had dual-core, 4g and 512MB of RAM.  Doesnt look like its changed since then.

        08/30/2011 at 5:54 pm
