HTC ThunderBolt Price Falls to a Penny at Amazon

Can’t say that I am shocked to see the HTC ThunderBolt available on Amazon  for a mere penny but I will say this. If you’ve been looking to get on board the Verizon 4G LTE train and absolutely, positively don’t care about the Motorola Droid Bionic or any other 4G LTE phones that might launch in the next couple of months then this is probably a deal to look at.

The HTC ThunderBolt has had its issues but an update that Verizon released, a rather sinister one actually, took care of a lot of the major bugs including that random reboot issue that drove ThunderBolt owners nuts.

It’s also still waiting for its upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread which could either be a godsend or an absolute nightmare. I’d hope that because it has taken this long to get released, HTC and Verizon are working to ensure it will be the former. Who knows.

Anyway, if you’re interested, you can find the ThunderBolt available for a mere penny right here. Keep in mind, this is about the only price, other than free, where I can half-heartedly recommend it. It’s also going to require you to sign a new two year contract.

In other words, you’re better off waiting until September.

Phone appears to be $669.99 on the link.  You should be more clear in stating that the $0.01 price requires signing up a NEW PLAN which will of course only offer tiered data plans.

Haha I’m guessing you’re a Thunderbolt owner? I don’t think it was him being biased. Just stating the facts buddy. I was in a Verizon store just last week and overheard their sales people completely trashing the Thunderbolt and telling customers to go with the Charge or Revolution. You getting ur panties in a bunch just shows your bias my friend.

I’m a T-bolt owner, and other than the random restarts (which I only noticed about once every day or two), it’s a really nice phone. I’m eagerly awaiting a Gingerbread release, of course, but even without it this thing is great. It’s very quick, packs a lot of features, came with a ton of storage (40GB!), has a very crisp screen, and has HTC Sense UI, which has been awesome (coming off an iPhone 3G). Battery life is most of the day on stock battery (3G network, not LTE), but I bought a couple of 1700 mAH batteries on eBay that came with a wall charger, for $50. If one gets low, I swap them out. No problem. Better than with my iPhone, where I was just screwed when my battefy died.

If you guys keep your phones stock then it really doesn’t matter what phone you have.  Nothing is touching a rooted thunderbolt right now.

I can see the future “they won’t be able to give this phone away once the Bionic is out”. If you have been waiting for the Bionic don’t fall for this “sucker” phone now. Wait a little longer, YOU CAN DO IT!!!

The bionic is already dead. The vigor is going to shit Ll over the bionic. I wanted the bionic around January and got sick of waiting for ever and bought the thunderbolt and I’m very happy I did. The phone is amazing. Although it is single core it is very fast and there is no lag at all and everything immediately opens. It is def way better than the charge in every aspect except for the screen. The charge is so ugly looking too Btw. I bet any money when bionic is out in Verizon stores the thunderbolt will still respond faster to inputs than bionic. Motor blur has always been somewhat glitchy and not as fluent as other phones. I saw photos of the bionic and personally I think it looks to rough around the edges literally. It looks too squarish and not sleek to me. If people are saying wait for bionic screw that wait for vigor or Droid hd. Again I bet that Thunderbolts single core CPU will still be more smooth than bionic dual core cpu. Let’s find out. Btw my thunderbolt gets all day battery on stock battery so I dunno what people do with their thunderbolt. They must be streaming porn all day using 4g not to get at least a days worth of battery.

I have had my thunderbolt for a month now and I haven’t had a single problem with it. I love the phone. I.don’t know what’s up with every and the bionic. It’s going to come out and fade away just like every phone does. Do people not remember that the thunderbolt was going to be the new sliced bread and look at it now lol. I think people should just by what they want and not worry about what’s coming out next month. Because no matter what you get it will be outdated when you walk out of the store eather way.

My Thunderbolt battery lasts all day.  I use it constantly reading news and listening to music.  Of course, if you watch video a great deal it’s best to have a charger nearby.  Put Juice Defender on it and set it to extreme and keep brightness at a useable level and have no problems.  I just viewed the Bionic video and it’s SLOW in comparison to Thunder.  Dual core is useless unless there is software that utilizes it. Thunder is a great phone and will be even better with Gingerbread.

Yea I agree dual core is useless unless the manufacturer optimizes their OS for it. Motor blur sucks and people knows this. It is laggy and buggy. A dual core is not going to make a already crappy UI any faster. Now the vigors dual core will speed up the phone a lot more likely because sense is amazingly optimized very well. I am not an Apple fan but look at the iPhone. It is Damn quick and it has a crappy ass CPU in it. The cpu in it is way dead. But apples UI is fantastically optimized so the phone is very snappy and quick. The UI is more important than the cpu. But again I can’t wait to see the vigor i bet it will be very fast because sense is very nicely optimized on HTC phones.
