Most Readers Would Buy an iPhone 5 Sight Unseen… And Go With Verizon or Sprint

So far, there’s no official iPhone 5 announcement, but as the iPhone 5 release date approaches, we do have plenty of opinions about the device.

Over the past month, we’ve asked our readers for their opinion about the iPhone 5, and as we expected, you have a wide range of opinions about Apple’s next device.

Here are the results of several reader surveys about iPhone 5, and a few more to find out what you want from Apple in October.

For the latest, check out our iPhone 5 Rumor Roundup, iPhone 5 Carrier breakdown and iPhone 5 release date rumors.

Verizon and Sprint Top Choices for iPhone 5

As soon as we heard that the iPhone 5 might come to multiple carriers, we asked you which carrier you want the iPhone 5 on. According to 1,588 voters, Verizon and Sprint top the list of desirable places to buy an iPhone 5. Verizon has a slight edge with 31% of the votes, but Sprint isn’t too far off with 28%.

Verizon taking top honors isn’t too surprising given the excellent 3G coverage, and Sprint is rumored to keep their unlimited data plans when the iPhone 5 is released, which would make it the only carrier offering unlimited data on the iPhone 5 to new customers. The big loser is AT&T with only 20% of the vote, and perhaps a collection of iPhone owners looking to jump ship now that Verizon has a more attractive iPhone.

2/3rds Would Buy iPhone 5 Sight Unseen

We asked you if you would buy the iPhone 5 right now, without any details, and an astounding 66% said that they would buy the iPhone 5 sight unseen. It wasn’t until a day later that you could actually do that, as Deustsche Telekom started taking iPhone 5 preorders.

Apple hasn’t had a big flop yet for hte iPhone, but it is a bit surprising that so many readers claim that they would buy an iPhone 5 without specs, size or even a glance at what it will look like. To be fair, 10% would only do so if they got early access to the iPhone 5.

Apple TV Could Be iPhone 5’s Hottest Accessory

The iPhone 5 is expected to have the same processor that powers the iPad 2. With the extra power, and iOS 5, you can mirror your iPad 2’s display to an HDTV with the Apple TV without any wires connected to the iPad. Assuming the iPhone 5 gets this functionality, the Apple TV could quickly become a gaming hub with your iPhone acting as a controller and console for fun single player and multiplayer games.

[poll id=”18″]

65% of our readers would buy an Apple TV in an instant if the iPhone 5 had the wireless AirPlay mirror feature, and another 27% are interested, but want to wait to see which apps support it.

How Big Do You Want the iPhone 5’s Display?

One of the biggest rumors we have been hearing is that the iPhone 5 will have a larger display. This is yet to be confirmed, but many are hoping for a larger place to watch movies and play Angry Birds. Now that you’ve read what the rest of the readers have had to say about the iPhone 5, it’s your turn to tell us what you want.

haha I like the last poll results 36% want 4.5 inches or larger screen hahaha. I was checking out Droid Bionic at Verizon store yesterday and found its 4.3 inch screen enormously big compared to my Atrix I think I’d never go for 4.3 inch display. But trying to imagine iphone with 4.5 inch. lol must be looking ridiculously funny in the hand! like a friggin shovel!

I want it to run on 4g LTE. Why buy a phone you’re going to have for 18 months to 2 years that only runs on yesterday’s technology? Even if you don’t have 4G where you live now, at the rate Verizon is rolling it out, you will soon.
